In 250-300 words, evaluate and discuss your thoughts on the various ways in which advances in technology can impact public health and/or disease. Could better technology have prevented the disastrous results of Hurricane Katrina?
How might technology aid us in the detection and prevention of large scale spreading of new diseases?
Can technological advances impact global warming? What does this have to do with public health?
What are the pros and cons of embracing technology as it pertains to public health?

With the appropriate technology, it may have been possible to foresee how much damage could possibly be caused by such a hurricane in a particular region or area. By advanced technology in this case, what we mean is a good warning system which would help us in predicting the time, location and cause of such a disaster occurring. This would make way for appropriate planning and execution. In the case of Hurricane Katrina, there was no solid evacuation plan. Not everybody had access to safe shelters which provided food, medication and post exposure vaccinations for those affected.
