How Does The Environment Affect Ozone Depletion?
The environment is affected by the deposition in the ozone layer.It is directly affecting the environment, because the environment is being negatively impacted, because of the depletion in the ozone. This depletion was created, because of all the CFC that is being released by all the factories and other machines that pollute the air. The UVB radiation affects the physiological and developmental processes of plants. Even though there is the existence of various machines and methods to reduce or repair these negative effects and have an ability to change to fit the increased levels of UV sunlight. Plant growth can be directly affected by UV sunlight radiation, in a dreadful way. Indirect changes caused by UV sunlight ,such as changes in plant …show more content…
It works well and gets a lot done , it is restricted to the euphotic zone, and that is the upper layer of the water column in which it has good sunlight to support its work. Exposure to solar UV sunlight radiation has appeared to influence both way of thinking and swimming strength in phytoplankton, bringing about decreased survival rates for these life forms. Scientists have proved a direct reduction in phytoplankton production due to ozone using everything related increases in UV sunlight. UV sunlight radiation has been found to make harm early formative phases of fish, shrimp, crab, frogs, amphibians, and numerous other ocean animals. Synthetic polymers, naturally occurring biopolymers, as well some different materials of business intrigue are contrarily influenced by UV daylight radiation. Today's materials are fairly shielded from UV daylight by extraordinary things added to sustenance, or something else. Yet, increases in UV sunlight levels will speed up their breakdown, limiting the length of time for which they are useful outdoors.All these effects could be prevented if people would stick to the three strategies, and then that would make the ozone depletion decrease, thus making the environment better for all the plants and creatures living on it. Reducing less vehicles would make less pollution thus, making the ozone layer close up, because there wouldn’t be much CFC to effect it. Using other, better, newer, eco-friendly materials on a daily basis, would also help because it wouldn’t release anything that would harm the environment and make the ozone depletion open up even more, and cause all the negative effects mentioned

Atmospheric physicists Paul Newman and Luke Oman built a simulation of the Earth’s atmosphere and then proceeded to strip away our protective ozone layer. Their computer model reproduced the chemistry and circulation of the air; natural variations in temperatures and winds; and minor changes in the energy received from the sun. Newman and Oman then added ozone-destroying chemicals to the atmosphere at a rate of 3% more per year—on top of what was already in our 1970s atmosphere. For several months, they ran their model on a supercomputer and reproduced about 80 years of simulated Earth time. They called their experiment “The World Avoided.” By the year 2020 in the simulation, 17% of the Earth’s protective ozone layer vanished. Holes in the ozone layer formed not just over Antarctica—as they currently do each spring—but over the Arctic, too. By 2040, the ultraviolet (UV) index, the measure of the sunburn-causing radiation reaching the Earth’s surface, rose as high as 15 on summer days in mid-latitude cities such as Washington, D.C. (A UV index of 10 is considered very high today and quickly leads to sunburn if you don’t wear sunscreen.) In the simulated future, two-thirds of the planet’s ozone layer disappeared by 2065. Ozone holes swirled over both poles all year long, and most ozone disappeared from the tropics, too.     The declination of ozone, especially in Antarctica has reached 50% in the last two decades (4,8). This is has caused increased levels of UVB radiation to reach and penetrate through the upper layer the ocean, up to a depth of 30m of ocean can be penetrated through. This is leading to unprecedented threat to the marine life. Microscopic marine organism such as phytoplankton and zooplankton are highly sensitive to UVB radiation (1). Phytoplankton are single-celled organism, as UVB is absorbed by a few layer of cells, single celled organisms like phytoplankton lack out layers protection from the radiation (4,9). Even a small increase in UVB radiation is deleterious to them, so excessive UVB impairs the photosynthesis of phytoplankton, inhibits its growth rate and cause lethal DNA damage to it, greatly reducing its population (1,4,8). Research has shown that, UVB radiation has reduced the phytoplankton population by 6%-12% in Antarctica (2,9). Zooplankton, the microscopic animals that feed on phytoplankton are as well threaten by the exposure to UVB radiation (2). They are either direct physically being impacted by UVB radiation or indirectly influenced by reduction and limitation of food sources(1,8,9). Yet is it enough? It may be but then again it’s most likely not. You see, the sun lets light in so we can see and have nutrients. And there is the little thing called the ozone layer that keeps a little of the sun in but not a lot of it. With the ozone layer, the heat and light from the sun bounces back towards itself. Like I said, the ozone layer only allows a little of the sun in. yet, by pollution the ozone layer becomes thinner and thinner allowing more sun to come in and fry us. I’ll break it down for you. Lets take smoke from refineries or a car. The smoke goes in to the air and mixes with the clouds. But some of that smokes breaks through and collides with the ozone layer causing erosion which makes the ozone layer thinner, allowing more sun in. Pollution is bad! But that’s not the only kind of pollution. Lets talk about out lovely streets and plants. Although its hard to call them lovely. Take an ordinary beautiful garden maintained by caring people.
