How Football Changed My Life
36 millions kids from age 5 – 18 are involved with organized sports. When I was about 4years old, I was one of those kids as well. Sports are a big part of my life and they always have been. My father and I have always connected through sports and they still do. Football is probably one of the most impactful sports in my life. Football and I weren’t always the closest of friends though. We went through our up’s and down’s throughout life, but in the end I always came back to it. I remember the first team I was ever a part of. A basketball team. I was around 4 years old and I was playing for the Douglasville Recreational Team and I… hated it. I remember being in the middle of practice sitting on the floor or even in the middle of a game running around in circles looking at the ceiling. Although I played basketball all the way up until 8th grade, I always knew that I really never liked it (I was never really good at it either). My …show more content…
Everyone would always tell me that I should play, but they were not going to change my mind. Throughout the years, more and more of my friends became interested in football and I was completely disconnected from it. Slowly, very slowly, I started to make my way back to football. I began to watch games with my dad. I ran around at school throwing the ball around and playing two hand touch. I began to realize I actually kind of liked football and I was willing to give it another shot. The summer going into 4th grade, I made a decision that I was going to try football again. At this time, I had no idea about the sport. I knew the general things about football, but not really what it took to be good. I went out not knowing anybody or anything. I was so nervous when I stepped on to the field at the Campbell high school. I remember walking down to the field and seeing a huge group of kids there. I had no idea what to expect, but when I got out there I fell in love with

    F. Scott Fitzgerald’s life and work were in a knot from the start; his profession spanned one of the most tumultuous eras of the century, and from the very start he was the creator and the victim of the new culture of celebrity which accompanied the rise of modern technology. Budd Schulberg masterfully created a character that closely and in many ways represents Fitzgerald in his later years; Manley Halliday is that character. “His mind’s eye, incurably bifocal, could never stop searching for the fairy-tale maiden who made his young manhood a time of bewitchment, when springtime was the only season and the days revolved on a lovers’ spectrum of sunlight, twilight, candlelight and dawn.”[Ch.10]. Fitzgerald had an interesting relationship with his beautiful wife Zelda Fitzgerald, in the novel Halliday’s was a flapper named Jere. Much of the novel’s center core is an up and close view covering the couple’s interactions, behavior, parties, and a lot of screw ups that do not shy away from Fitzgerads’ very own. Not only is there a connection between Halliday’s Jere but The Disenchanted introduced the subject of glamorized failure, in the scene when Manley Halliday is dying and thinks, “Take it from me, baby, in America nothing fails like success” [Ch. Slow Dissolve] he indeed, is the American failure.…

I play quarter back for Pensacola Catholic High. To me football is one of the biggest adrenaline rushes you can get. The game is fast and I like that. When I play football I feel unstoppable and I love it. When you play quarterback the game is in your hands and it is up to you to lead your team to victory. You have to make sure your team is focused and prepared. You have to be a good leader to play quarterback. If your team starts loosing you can’t just act sad and give up. You have to do the right thing and give your team a pep talk and tell them to step up their game like a good leader would do.…

It all started at ninth street with some friends of mine John and I started recruiting some people to come play football with us. I honestly didn’t know I had a pretty decent arm. I originally was going to start practicing to play wide receiver instead of quarterback. At the time Odell Beckham Jr. ( wide receiver for the New York Giants ) was extremely explosive and dynamic on offense. Seeing him blow up on offense made me want to try out for wide receiver. But somehow John convinced me to play quarterback.…

Right from the start I knew id love it. The coaches screaming at me and the other kids hitting me really made me feel great. That might sound weird but I just loved doing it. The pain my legs felt after practices was an indescribable feeling of hurt and success after a good practice. And that feeling still sticks to this day. I could not imagine what id be doing if I didn’t have football to play. It played such an important role in my life. It taught me to be more disciplined and respectful to people. I had played soccer ever since I could remember however, as high school approached, I knew that I needed a change, so I decided to play field hockey. At first I was petrified; I had no idea what to expect from high school sports and on top of that I had no idea how to play field hockey. I ran as fast as I could and pushed myself beyond my limits and as a result, I made the varsity field hockey team as a freshmen. While this did mean a lot to me, what I believe is even more valuable are the important lessons that I have learned along the way.…

I was given the opportunity to dress varsity as a freshman and being around that atmosphere, being on a successful team was intoxicating, especially to me at such a young age. I loved every minute of it, and I knew I wanted to be the one out on the field making the plays I watched that whole year. I made it my goal from that year on, I was going to give everything it took over the next three years in order to be the best football player possible.…

Football has always been a big part of my life. As a young boy I would day dream of making insane touchdowns, making tackles that would leave man stuck in the ground, and even winning the heisman trophy. In 7th grade I had begged my mother endlessly to sign me up for pee wee football because she would always worry about the risks of football. After finally getting her to sign me up, we went straight into the season. I chose to play running back because as a 12-year-old I was remarkably fast having timed 5.3 in the 40 yard-dash. After a few weeks in the season we approached the playoffs and found out our opponent for the first round of the playoffs were the jaguars who were undefeated. Our team didn’t have the best chemistry on…
