I began playing football at the age of 5. My friends and I played football at recess from kindergarten till 6th grade. I had always dreamed of becoming an nfl player. And playing for the vikings. But lets face it that would never happen.
Along came 6th grade football. I became a wide receiver. The only game we had was a scrimmage against one another. MyTeam won of course. Even though we didn't have any actual games we still learned a lot about football.

After he throws it, he yells, “Pass interference, defense, number 22. 15 yards, automatic first down.” All flustered over my split-second mistake, I became furious. When we realize that there is no time left on the clock, the coaches and players on the sideline begin game-planning for overtime. The refs decide to give Delavan-Darien one more play, due to the penalty. So, I drop back in my safety position as the rain begins to pick up. I know that the only way Delavan-Darien can score is from a deep ball to the end zone. Knowing this, I back pedal ten more yards back, just to be safe. When the quarterback finishes his cadence, every receiver takes off down the field. I spy number ten, knowing that he is their biggest, fastest, and most productive receiver of the day. I sprint over to number ten right as the quarterback throws the ball. Not even a second later, I jump up, reach my hands above my head, and hope to catch the ball. I intercepted…

I made the team my junior year. Although I did not start the first games because the coach would put some of his favorite players in but one game he put me in second half and no one would get pass me. I was taking all the all the balls away from the opponents and also winning them in the air. After that game I became the starter for every game. It felt good because there were only seven juniors on the team and I was one out of three juniors that started every game. But I was really clad for myself because all the hard work I did over the summer paid off. We were in a tournament and were playing to go to the finals. We won 7 -1. I scored my first goal in that game. When I thought everything was going good one of the opponent player slide and hit me in the knee with his cleats and I just fell and I could not walk because it was the worst pain in the…

Football is something that defines me in many ways. Football taught me many things but one of the biggest was becoming a young man. The sport itself didn't teach to be a man but the coach that felt like father figures in the four year in highschool that gave me life lectures. My coaches taught me simple things like how to shake hands like a man to learning to deal with situation that are hard to deal with alone. My coaches have helped me become the young man I am with manner, attention to details, and sense of urgency. Without football and the discipline I've been through, I would have been a MORE of a person who quits when it gets hard. Football is what taught to keep trying even when it's hard and to try my best because at some point you…

It was very demanding and challenging but I kept with it, attending practice after practice. I never got to start on the A team my freshmen year, I was just always a B team player and I was fine with that for the moment. After my freshmen football session I decided to do track to help get me in better shape for the future. By the time my sophomore season came I was a whole new player. I was stronger, faster, and smarter. I ended up starting all 9 games and getting awarded offensive linemen of the year. I ended up becoming a 3 sport athlete football, basketball and track my sophomore year. By the time I was finished with track I knew I was ready to be a varsity football player. I only started 6 out of our 10 games but I was grateful enough to even touch the field as a junior. My senior year came along and I was named captain of the team, I started all the games, and received honorable mention all conference at the end of the season. The experience was great winning, meeting new people, and just having…

I hadn't had any previous experience in football besides my days on the middle school playground. Practices were long and left me exhausted. As all of the other kids were picked up by their parents, I prepared myself for the long walk home. With my father working and my mother unable to drive, walking was my only method of transportation after a long day of school and practice. In addition to that, my lack of experience showed on the field and I quietly watched on the sideline for most of the season.…
