How Is Courage Shown In The Blind Side
‘The Blind Side’ directed by John Lee Hancock is based on a true-life story of Michael Oher or as he is better known, “Big Mike”; an African-American teenager who drifts from home to home has very little knowledge of the education system with no stable aspects of his life. Coming from a world of drugs, violence and alcohol abuse Mike finds it difficult to transfer into this ‘new world’ while attending Briarcrest Christian School in Memphis. This showed honor as the actions she took were not just for herself but for another; she put Michael before her and vowed to stand by his side no matter what. As said by Michael in his final English paper, “Courage is a hard thing to figure. You can have courage based on a dumb idea or a mistake, but you are not supposed to question adults… Maybe they know what’s best or maybe they don’t. Courage is tricky if you always do what others tell you to do. Any fool can have courage but honor that is the real reason you do something or you don’t. You should hope for courage and have honor.” The way that he describes honor and courage is the way that life works. Life is constantly changing and you have to go through life trying to be the best that you can be, while on the
