The long journey that Marlin and his companion Dory traveled was quite treacherous due to large dangerous aquatic animals such as sharks, blue whales, and killer jellyfish. Marlin viewed this journey as his only hope at getting back his only family member he had left, someone he would not want to live without. Surfing the East Australian Current with turtles was an expedited route that Marlin traveled to get to his son sooner, even though the current was extremely dangerous and fast-paced. Once father and son are reunited, Dory gets herself trapped in a fisherman’s net, further complicating the journey.
