How JROTC Changed My Life
Ever since I joined JROTC I have changed in how I feel, how I manage, and much more. It has made a huge impact in my life and I’m sure in many others. JROTC has made me see many situations differently and have helped in both my at home life and academic standards. It has also taught me how to deal with different situations with a calm and clear thinking. One of the many areas I improved in was my self-esteem. Freshman year it was at a zero and to this day it has grown by 22. I feel way more confident and understanding of how things go that I no longer get myself down about me messing up on the little things. Also my stress management has raised, which means I can deal with my stress in a controlled and calm manner. I have also grown in my drive strength which means I have more motivation to get things done, along with my commitment ethic to have things done on time and turned in. my leadership ad sales orientation also went up which is a huge plus for me. I hope I can keep improving in these areas my entire life. Although I have improved in many areas I have had a decrease in some also or increased in areas that needed to be decreased. I went down in my physical wellness area which means I need to work on how I treat my body including health, controlling my destructive behaviors, and regular exercising. I did raise in my …show more content…
Even though my self-esteem rose it is still in the low category, so I need to raise that and once I do I’m sure my physical wellness will go up meaning I have more self-confidence to do things and take better care of myself. I also need to lower my interpersonal aggression so I can deal with situations and others with a more wise minded thought process instead of lashing out on others. Also I need to change my interpersonal deference and need to have some self confidence in myself and what I’m asking for. There is so much I need to improve

I enrolled in JROTC mostly because of my family. My dad was in the US Air Force and retired shortly after I was born, my oldest brother joined the US Navy about 2-3 years ago and my sister joined the early entry program for the US Navy and is going to boot camp in July, my brother was practically born to join the US Marines, and 3 of my 4 brothers have been or are in JROTC. It was only natural and the sane thing to do that I joined JROTC because we are practically a Military oriented family and I wouldn’t want it anyother way. I also thought it would be good for me because since this my first year in High School and that it would help me prioritize my work, help me find new friends, build my self-esteem, and learn how to become like my brothers. In my opinion my brothers are the very definition of leaders. Now that it is the end of the semester, my reasons of joining were proved right. I have become better at being a leader, I have made a bunch of friends, i’m more comfortable in the way I live my life and the things I do, and I know how to keep my grades up in High School, and even if I don’t I know how to try and keep them up. I love JROTC and there is no doubt in my mind that I will come back next…

When I became a part of one of the Deer Park JROTC Cadets, I’ve never knew I would come to find happiness and enjoyment in the three years I spent growing with the other cadets. In the first year when I joined JROTC was unpredictable for me because I went from playing softball throughout my whole entire childhood into my freshman year to marching in formation as a JROTC cadet. The beginning of my freshman year in high school changed my life. I had set many types of goals for myself this year including making friends, helping others and being a part of the most incredible organization, Blue Guards. Blue Guards is apart of the Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps at Oxon Hill High School. Blue Guards was not only a drill team, it was a family, a family of girls and boys working together, leading others, having discipline, and respecting each other as a team. Walking into the first day of school knowing I was going to be part of this team made me light up like a light bulb.…

When I first stepped into Anderson High School as a freshman, I was exceedingly confident in myself. I played sports, had gotten good grades, and planned to have an amazing high school career. Freshman and sophomore year were a breeze. If I am being straightforward, I did not focus much on my schoolwork. I did what was required of me and got good grades, but I did not go above and beyond. I had always been told by upperclassman, “It only gets harder from here. Enjoy it while you can.” Now I realize what that means.…
