The book The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis, takes place in Narnia. Narnia is a land of talking animals. This story appeals to a younger audience, since they are interested in animals and magical creatures. One of the main characters, Aslan, is the lion who rules Narnia. According to the passage, Aslan is a type of god-like figure because of his long life, immense power, and benevolence. It is very fascinating to note that, when they hear Aslan's name, the children recognize his power, but also become more themselves. The physical form of the lion does not matter. The author uses a lion because a child associates a lion as being scary, but in the story the lion is kind and brave. Aslan's characteristics alter the young readers…

Each protagonist’s form of strategy shares likenesses as well as differences. In “How Stories Came to Earth” and “Coyote Steals Fire” the strategies used are beneficial to society. The stories that Anansi acquires from the gods are then, in turn, able to be spread throughout the world. This gives everyone a chance to hear and learn tales for generations to come. In order to do all of this, Anansi cheated each animal that the gods wanted into helping him. Anansi would trick the animals into trusting him and then, right when Anansi had them in his grasp, he would trap them and take them back to the gods. When Coyote steals the fire from Thunder he creates an opportunity for a new life for everyone on earth. Before fire, people were forced to eat raw meat and to freeze during the winter, but because Coyote stole the fire, people…

(SIP-A) Before the Taliban kidnapped Baba-Jan and Nur, Najmah wasn’t very helpful, and was very childish with her fear of imaginary leopards. (STEWE-1) Her mother had to help her overcome her fear, but it didn’t fix anything, as Mada-Jan says, “Stop trying to scare her! Najmah, you know there are no leopards around here. Now hurry, you two! Still I hesitate”(5). This clearly shows how gullible and childish Najmah is with her imaginary fear of leopards. In fact it is so bad, her mother has to comfort her and constantly tell her that they are not real. (STEWE-2) As Mada-Jan tells Najmah “You are a good and brave girl, she says, stroking my face. I don’t feel brave, but I don’t trust my voice to speak”(9). This shows that not only her mother has to comfort her, but it also doesn’t help her feel any better about the leopards. But once Nur and Baba-Jan were kidnapped, that all changed. (SIP-B) Najmah was doing lots of work around the house, and lost her fear of leopards. (STEWE-1) As Najmah says herself “I have forgotten my childish quarrels with Nur - I am no longer angry with him for scaring me about the leopard, and for saying I…

“Novels and stories are renderings of life; they can not only keep us company, but admonish us, point us in new directions, or give us courage to stay a given course.” (Robert Coles). We as humans, all love a good story; whether we are watching a movie, listening to our favorite song, reading a novel or having someone tell us a story, there is always a sense of enjoyment. Stories are all around us and we can trace stories and the act of storytelling back to our early ancestors. In the book the Fairie Queen, although the lion has no name in the story it is still part of Spensor’s allegory. A lion is the king of the jungle; it inherently signifies natural law. Which could be vehemently ferocious when it has to, but seemingly sympathetic to Christian reality. Rendering to Christian divinity, natural law crafts and creates part of God’s celestial law. Of human nature Christian is not an antagonist, it acts in harmony and unity with it. The lion instinctively assists and protects Una. Conversely, why is it no contest for the knight Sansloy? Without the law, act, rule, or decree of God, who maneuvers outside the circumference of heavenly law? The natural law symbolized and personified in this lion holds no power nor influence above Sansloy. Sansloy is capable of manipulating and destroying the lion because he isn’t subjected to the indefinite laws of nature. Nevertheless, the lion can trounce, conquer and overwhelm the robber, who infringes and disobeys the natural law by constantly stealing, committing larceny, and indulging…
