In 2012, Dunkin brands published in their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) their goals about sustainable solutions. Here they mentioned some of their main achievements: Climate and Energy, Sustainable Sourcing, and Packaging. This CSR deals with how Dunkin Donuts is seeking to minimize costs.
Climate and Energy: Dunkin’ Donuts was able to determine where their restaurants and franchisees could reduce energy consumption, while also cutting back on utility costs. In 2012, they introduced an energy efficient tool kit named “Power Down, Profit Up.” This toolkit focused on low to no-cost ways to save energy and water, including repairs, rebates, tax incentives and bringing employees on board with energy efficiency.
Sustainable Sourcing: In its 2010 Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) report, the company stated that it was committed to complete research of the option of sourcing cage-free eggs and gestation crate-free pork by 2013. Their goal was exceeded in September of 2012, and the company transitioned 5% off the eggs in their breakfast sandwiches to cage-free by the end of 2013; Dunkin’ continued to work with suppliers to eliminate gestation crates from its pork supply chain. Also, Dunkin’ introduced Iced Green Tea made with tea sourced from Rainforest Alliance Certified™ farms. In their 2012 CSR report, Dunkin’ Donuts stated that they would continue to work with their partners, such as The Humane Society of the United States, to develop a plan by the end of 2014 to increase the percentage of cage free eggs and establish a timeline for eliminating gestation crates.
Packaging: Dunkin Brands remains committed to creating sustainable packaging solutions that will better their guests’ experience and reduce their environmental impact. Dunkin’s main criteria for their innovation of their foam cup is: keeping hands cool and coffee hot, is better for the environment. In 2013, the company announced
