Attention Getter: Have you ever thought of how your heart beats everyday tirelessly without stopping and how it pumps blood throughout the body? Well here is how it works..
Psychological Orientation:. As I started researching information about the different functions of the heart, I realized I didn’t know much about how our heart really works and why is it important to our body. So, I did significant research to educate myself.
Logical Orientation: As students many of us have to know the basic stuff on how our body works with this blood pumping muscle. In the next few minutes, i want to explain the different parts of our heart and how each part plays an important role in pumping blood throughout our body.

40 million times a year.
C. Location of heart in the human body.
1. Your heart is located in between your lungs in the middle of your chest and slightly closer to the left of your breastbone.(Heart Information Center 2015)
Transition: Now that you know how the heart works lets talk about the different parts of this organ. II. The human heart consists of four chambers that have different roles in pumping blood throughout the body.
A. These four chambers are separated to two sides by an inner wall called the septum.(How the Heart works 2011)
B. There are two upper chambers are called the atria and two lower chambers called the ventricles. 1. The atria collect blood as it flows into your heart. 2. The ventricles pump blood out of your heart to your lungs or other parts of your body.
C. There are also four types of valves that regulate the blood flow through your heart. (Heart Information Center 2015) 1. The pulmonary valve controls blood flow from the right ventricle into the pulmonary arteries that carry blood to your lungs to pick up oxygen. 2.The tricuspid valve is on the right side of your heart and regulates blood flow between the right atrium and right …show more content…
The aortic valve on the left side of the heart carries blood from the heart to your body. 4. The mitral valve is on the left side of your heart and is in charge of letting oxygen rich blood from your lungs move from left atrium to left ventricle.
Transition: These parts all have different roles in the pumping process which helps in our circulatory system.
III. There are many interesting facts about the human heart.
A. Fun facts about the human heart.(Heart and Vascular Team, 2014).
1. Each minute your heart pumps 1.5 gallons of blood.
2. The beating sound is the clap of valve leaflets opening and closing.
3. The first heart cell starts to beat as early as four weeks.
4. A normal heart valve is about the size of a half dollar.
CONCLUSION
Logical Closure: You now have a better understanding of how the heart functions in our body as well as the different parts inside of it and their roles.
Psychological Closure: It is beneficial for us to know about the most important engine we have in our bodies that is in charge of our circulatory system.
Clincher: Now we have better knowledge and understanding on this impressive muscle in our body that keeps us alive and circulates our blood on a daily
