Soccer is one of the most demanding physical high intensity field games played all over the world. The increasing demand to increase a player’s physical ability both at professional and amateur soccer has grown in recent years. The development of strength and power is paramount to success in most sports, especially those involving short-term, high-intensity efforts. Traditional Strength training programs improve the development of speed & power (Hakkinen and Hakkinen 1993; Rhea et al. 2003) and stability in an athlete leading to the possibility of better kicking performance, though it is important to recognize the role of strength in power Rostgaard et al. Bodybuilders constantly track what muscle group they work out, what supplements to take, and what they’re eating, all of these aspects make up the core of bodybuilding. When bodybuilders step into a gym, they don’t simply pick a dumbbell and wave it around. There’s an aim when working out, and that aim is to correctly and safely activate as many muscle fibers as possible by executing an exercise, and to create micro tears in the muscles to allow room for growth. An active bodybuilder also understands the benefits of taking certain supplements. Supplements can range from fish oils and multivitamins to testosterone boosters all of which are essential in helping a bodybuilding reach his desired goal. The real hidden secret to bodybuilding however, is knowing what to consume, when to consume it and how much of it to…

For a long time in my life, I thought I was just adequate. I was smart, but not the smartest. I was good at softball, but not the greatest. I was decent at volleyball and basketball, but my height made it hard to be a formidable force. I was fast, but never the fastest. It truly seemed that I was just never meant to be outstanding in any way, shape, or form. In fact, being the shortest of my grade was the only “wow” factor about me. One event, or shall I say sport, changed that all, though. A sport that many people shy away from is the one I embrace with open arms. I am talking about the sport of powerlifting.…

I realize that every time before a squat workout, I feel anxious. This is the same kind of anxiety that a person feels before a date or a job interview. I'm not really afraid of the weights, since they are inanimate. What I am really afraid of is confronting the weaker version of myself, and this happens either before or after the workout. If I don't hit a personal record but was expecting to, then my current perception of myself is flawed, and I should be scared right now too,…

What for many is a solely an aesthetic venture has become my daily tribute to the human body as a functional unit. Muscles are beautiful because each microscopic filament forms slowly and deliberately through systematic contractions in training. I get stronger. I lift heavier.…
