Pet Story/Rufus
Once upon a time there lived the most laid back, easy going dog you could ever meet and his name was Rufus. He was a purebred basset hound. White body with brown spots, and weighed about fifty-five pounds. He was twelve years old, and he played like he was two. Rufus had the most amazingly long ears that would flop all over the place when he was running. Because his ears were so long, they almost touched the ground. His bark was so fierce that he would scare the wildlife away. Little did the wildlife know how gentle he really was.
His daily routine consisted of a ride with his human dad to a pig house which was five miles from home. Rufus would put his paws on the mirror of the truck with his upper body hanging out of the truck. The rest of Rufus’ body was still in the truck. He would bark at the Amish buggy whenever they met on the road. He really showed them who was boss because his bark was so intimidating. The only thing that he didn’t care for was when people would try to clip his nails. He would growl so the groomer would have to put a muzzle on him because they were afraid he would bite them. When his owners would practice sports in the front yard, Rufus would also be out playing with them. He would fetch the ball. He hated the softball because one time he took a line drive …show more content…
to the noggin. His favorite sport was football.
Rufus started to scratch a lot, especially at night when he should've been sleeping.
His scratching got worse over time. The Vet said he had severe allergies and that he might be allergic to his own skin and hair. Medicine helped for a little while but that was hard on his body. He started to scratch instead of eating, and he was losing weight. He would yelp out like he was in pain, then he slept most of the day and all night. Rufus was clearly wasting away and had to be put to
sleep.
After having one dog for a year, we bought a black labrador. Cooper is the black labs name, and he is currently 2 years old. Cooper is also a purebred. He has a lot of energy and is fun to try and teach things to like; high five, shake and sit.
