Process Essay Are you tired of paying a hair stylist to straighten your hair? If so, I have a simple solution that is easy, inexpensive, and you can do it at home. Before you start the perm process, you will need a hair relaxer kit of your choice, a perm brush, shampoo and conditioner, gloves, a towel, and a nearby sink. After this process is complete, you will notice how straight and cost efficient it was to be your own stylist at home. The first step is to purchase a hair relaxer kit at a beauty supply store. It does not matter what brand you decide to purchase because certain perms work differently on certain people. You would want to choose a relaxer that has no lye substances, because it can be very harmful to the scalp. Once you are certain that you are ready, its time to apply. In this step, it is best to start off by applying some form of lubricant (whether it is hair grease or baby oil) to prevent any types of burns along the hairline. During the applying process, you will need to mix all the necessary ingredients that are listed on the instructions pamphlet. Now begin parting your hair into four sections and clip them out of the way. Using the gloves, dip the perm brush into the mixture and apply relaxer to the nape (back) area less than an inch from the root. You will need to continue in thin sections moving in the directions of the forehead until you’ve covered your entire head. While waiting on the desired time of your relaxation, begin smoothing your hair from where application was first applied and work your way to the end. Immediately after step two, follow the instructed directions on the pamphlet and begin step three which is the rinse cycle. In other words you are ready to rinse, shampoo, and condition your hair. After rinsing away as much relaxer as possible, use the shampoo in the kit at least twice. If relaxer is not fully washed away there will be a color change to indicate that it
