But the reality is much the reverse: Congress holds the bulk of the power, and the president and his aides must act and react in response to its whims" (Klein). what the author means is the president is able to only act in a way that Congress wants and passes the bills the congress issue. But this year, it is different. Since the majority of the congress and the President are from the same party, they would let him do most of the works he wants to do. What I think is this year, the Congress does not pay attention to what they are doing and qualifies everyone the president nominees. The congress is not questioning the president over what he is doing. Even the Congress does not question itself about why they are qualifying such unqualified nominees such as Betsy DeVous. The Democrats even went on a protest and didn't show up to protest against Republicans but Republicans "voted to suspend committee rules to vote on those nominees without Democrats present" (Seipel 1) [3]. The Congress is divided within itself and only wants to back the president by qualifying the Secretaries. It is scary because they can allow president do whatever he wants, and it may harm the people, environment, or the world.
Based on the article titled "How to Stop an Autocracy," written by Ezra Klein, America might become an Autocratic system because of the failing of the founders of America, insincere senators, and Congress's power might change the America's system to an Autocratic system.
