How to Succeed in a Math Test
How to Succeed in a Math Test
It is not easy to succeed in a math test. It requires a lot of hard work and practice to perform well in the test. The worst thing you can do to hamper your chances of success in a math test is to come underprepared. What kind of progress you have in your academic career depends a lot on how you perform in math. Therefore, it is necessary to do all that you can to ensure you do well in your math tests. Below are a few ways that can help you prepare well and succeed in a math test.
Review the assigned problems
When you sit to write a math exam, you should first go through the assigned problems in order to ensure that you have understood them before beginning to solve them. Also, once you have solved one problem you must take time and review the method you have followed and the answer you have obtained and then move on to next one. At the end of the test, you must review all the solutions you have provided one last time before submitting your test paper. Reviewing can help you rectify anything that you may have done incorrectly.
Study with a friend
Your preparation for a math test can prove to be more fruitful if you study along with a friend. Studying with a friend can help you in more ways than one. There may be things that one of you may have understood better and so that individual can explain the concept to the other. Also, both of you can wreck your brains together to solve more complex problems. It can also help if you can form a study group as there are better chances of success in the test by studying in groups.
Pay attention to point values
When you are taking the test, it is very important for you to pay attention to the point values assigned to each of the questions. You cannot afford to be lagging behind towards the end of the test while others are on the verge of completion. The best way to go about it is to go after the questions or problems which have the lowest point value as these are relatively easy to solve.

The practice test will help you most if you take it under conditions as close as possible to those of the actual test. • Set aside 3 hours and 20 minutes of uninterrupted time That way you can complete the entire test in one sitting. Note: The total testing time is 3 hours and 45 minutes, but you save 25 minutes because the unscored section* from this practice test was omitted. Sit at a desk or table cleared of any other papers or books You won’t be able to take a dictionary, books, notes, or scratch paper into the test room. Allow yourself the specified amount of time for each section Pace yourself by using a watch (without an audible alarm), which is what you are allowed to use on test day. Have a calculator at hand when you take the math sections This will help you determine how much to use a calculator the day of the test. Use a calculator with which you are familiar—preferably the same calculator you will use on test day. Read the test instructions carefully They are reprinted from the back cover of the test book. On test day, you will be asked to read them before you begin answering questions. Make sure you use a No. 2 pencil It is very important that you fill in the entire circle on the answer sheet darkly and completely. If you change your response, erase it as completely as possible. It is very important that you follow these instructions when filling out your answer sheet. Record your answers on paper, then score your test Use the answer sheet when completing a practice test on paper to simulate the real testing environment. After completing the practice test, you can score the test yourself with “Scoring Your Test,” or you can return to collegeboard.com to enter your answers online and receive a score report and answer explanations.…

Buy an extra notebook for each subject at the beginning of the year so that as you finish a chapter in class, you can immediately write notes and summaries in that book. The classwork will still be fresh in your mind so at exam time you merely have to take the notebook home from school. Write down the key points you learned from each lesson onto a cue card. This helps your mind to retain the day's important facts. On the weekends look over the cue cards. Get your parents or friends to quiz you on them.…
