Jones, Mr. Teel has increased my perspective on analyzing essays. To analyze something means to exaime a piessay down in detail. When breaking an essay, it is important to understand that if something does not add up, the speaker might have a hidden agenda. In a rhetorical analysis paper the speaker, audience, and subject should all tie together to form the rhetorical triangle. When studying an essay look for how the author created the piece and why. Fallacies are errors in logic. Fallacies are normally hidden and relate to purpose. In Mr. Teel’s AP English class, we have learned how to identify fallacies. The class broke the 29 fallacies into 4 main groups. When the fallacies were sperated, I could identify them much quicker in the test we took. When analyzing an essay, it is also important to identify the tone, style, and diction. The tone of the author will help the reader understand the authors reasoning for writing the essay. Tone can be identified by facial expressions, gestures, and body language. The style of the essay helps the reader understand the meaning of the essay. A common essay format consists of a hook, thesis, context, purpose, body paragrpaghs, and a conclusion. Knowing how to break down an essay has helped me identify the authors purpose for creating the
