How To Write An American Nichols Our Generation Essay
I thought the poem “Our Generation” By Jordan Nichols, was very unique. It showed that people can have two perspectives on the world, a positive or a negative. This poem is different because of the way you can read it from top to bottom, and bottom to top. Both ways showed that you can view the world in two different ways. The first time read it, it was very negative with lines saying “our generation was a failure” and “our generation will be known for nothing”. The second time, It was very positive with lines saying “giving up is something we never did” and “we are the peak of mankind”. about our society and how it can be changed. reading the poem from top to bottom sounds bad and good at the same time. The way I see it from bottom to top is a very good way to boost up someone's self esteem. I like it because it shows two ways into the world and what it says actually means something. It has something that anyone will like even if you don't like reading something about it is important. I also like it because It can make someone open up to people more. Its also very interesting because the way they took the time to figure it out and write the poem. Its a way people can realize how the world is in reality. And that's why I like this poem.

Date: 9/16/16 2:48 PM In “Our Generation” by Jordan Nichols is a story that you may have to read over a few times to fully understand the concept of it. The first time you may have read it you understood that what was going on was our generation talking about being not as well as it should be going. Then you read it back up as the author intended for you to do. It's people's different perspective on this generation. The first generation had the idea that they were greedy and had the wrong intentions for themselves and that world. Then the second generation seemed to be a lot more positive on their intentions for that world. Really you can clearly see that the first gen was just down about everything. Then first gen had more of a good time doing anything they thought possible.

I believe that this poem has a very strong and true message.
One reason why, is because, in the beginning of the poem, it starts off by giving negative messages. Once you read it backwards it gives you strong positive messages. In my opinion, I believe that this poem gives you the idea that a part of the world is crooked and bad, while another part of the world has a lot of good and happiness. Although, many people disagree and have only seen the bad in the world, this does not mean that bad could not turn good. Today, our generation has many different types of people:Quiet, angry, unhappy and finally happy people. Seeing different personalities although sounds a little bit crazy, helps make us who we are and allows us to know who and where we belong. This poem is also showing that if we did what it said backwards, we would be happier and do better in life. My favorite part about the poem was how it explains that if we switch any negative things from life back to good, it would allow us to have an effect on the world allowing us to possibly be able to change somebody's life for the better. Lastly, I believe that this poem can help other people change positively and see the world
differently.

Our generation was a very interesting poem.At first it sounded like the poem was shaming on our generation for what its worth.It told the reader that we meant nothing to the world that our generation was just a big flop.While i was reading I thought ‘’Who could say all these things about our generation and not get any bad response’’? At the end of the poem i thought it was going to get better but then it said ‘’Read from the bottom to the top’’.When i heard those words i was confused but then pleasantly surprised by reading the poem backwards it was the complete opposite of what it said before (literally).The poem showed me that turning around our ways (or in this case the poem)can be a good thing.It can be something better that what we did before it can be the way we are remembered as a whole and not just another generation just like all the rest.This poem has menaing integrity and a whole line up of people who could read it wrong.Whoever wrote this poem has the bravery to tell us as a whole that we were courupt we had no meaning at all and then turn everything around by.Giving us the words to help us change our ways for us and future generations.In conclusion I thought that tghis poem was very well thought out and when Jordan Nichols wrote this he put alot of time and effort in to creating it.

9/8/16 Commentary In my opinion I respectfully disagree with Jordan Nichols because our generation is very big and there is nothing that is disappointing about it. Our nation is very smart and there are many things that are very exciting, like all our different cultures and religions we spread around the world. All of our hard work led to success in our generation. For example, finding the right chemicals to cure cancer. Many people are very kind which is a great thing you need to have for many reasons, like having a job, having friends that will have your back, and for your health. We should be grateful for what we get in the world and try not to be selfish. We can make the world a better place if we tried and cared. No matter what people won’ give up and be ungrateful of things. So in my opinion I disagree with Jordan because I believe our world is worthless.
