Writing an essay can be a very stressful process, but it doesn’t have to be if we know the steps and understand what to do. Writing can be easy and maybe even have fun with it. Most paragraphs in an essay have a three part structure; introduction, body paragraph, and conclusion. This structure in paragraphs whether they are narrating, describing, comparing, contrasting, or analyzing information. Each part of the paragraph plays an important role in communicating your meaning to your reader. You need those three important structures to write an essay.
The first step to write an essay is to choose the kind of essay. There are a lot of kinds of essay but we usually use narrative, which is written like a story or sequence events, comparison, in which is compared several subjects. Before you write anything, make sure to know what you are writing about. Choose a topic which provides you with ample resources and information and which you understand well. Be sure to specify exactly what you want to write on. Often students fail to answer the entire essay question because they get sidetracked at this stage. The essay question provides clues about what you are expected to write on. Make sure your topic is relevant and answers all the main questions. The introduction should grab the reader’s attention, set up the issue, and lead in to the thesis.
There are four different writing strategies that you can use to help you with your body paragraphs. There is brainstorming, free writing, questioning and finally conclusion. First you brainstorm about what you going to write about. It is often helpful to first generate a page of evidence and facts and that is what I like to do. I think about what I’m going to write. Once I figure it out I like to start gathering my info in my head. As I do this I like to jot key points on a notepad. This provides you with an overview of the topic and gives you a guide from which to draw inferences and information. Once you
