“How I learn the skill to cook Italian Food”
Narrative Essay #1
My interest on learning to cook Italian food started at a very young age, I was only 6 years old. I used to spend hours watching my mom cooking in the kitchen. The intense smell of onions, garlic, and olive oil would fill the room and compose a visualization of love. The creations my mother use to bring on the table were always remarkable. I remember vividly thinking that one day I wanted to be as creative as she was. She was and still is a mentor for me. In Italy we have an old tradition that it’s passed from generation to generation. Every Sunday all the family and the extend family would gather together around this enormous table for lunch and or spend hours eating and talking.
In these occasions my mother and grandmother would cook for several hours composing unique meals like Lasagne, Pasticcio, Agnello con Patate, and many more traditional dishes made with a secret ingredient “Love”! I wanted become as good as my mother and grandmother in the culinary art.
