29. Some of the best times for conversation with a child is at bed time or even a car ride. That way the child isn’t preoccupied with other things and is able to give you their full attention. A bad time to try and have a talk with your children is when they are focusing on a project or game or when they are hungry or tired.
30. Active listening is when the parent is doing more than just listening to the child’s words. It is when the parent is actually listening to what the child is saying, how he/she is saying it, and continuing the conversation with non judgemental questions.

Growing up, my mother and I would fight. I always said that is was because we were too much alike, both pretty stubborn individuals. My mother is a web designer, but she also does graphic design. Having an interest in graphic design myself, I was watching her do it one day and she asked me if I would like to know how to do it. We spent the rest of the day chatting and laughing when she was teaching me how to do graphic design. That is a fond memory of mine
33. Sex role stereotyping is when parents teach their children to follow into a certain role. Girls are typically taught to play with dolls, wear pretty clothing, and talk out their issues. They are taught to be very polite and to always use your words to work things out instead of physical behaviour. Boys on the other hand are usually taught to run, climb, and jump on things. They are taught to like trucks, cars, and sports. Parents also teach their boys to be tough and never let a person bully them. To stand up for themselves even if it means physical behaviour.
34. My mother always encouraged us to do whatever made us happy. I personally, wanted to spend my time hanging out with the boys. Playing pokemon, skateboarding, and climbing trees, but my babysitter didn’t want me to play with the boys. She wouldn’t let me. She made me play with her daughters
