CAREER INTREST
After finishing the career building activities and in-class discussion, I have a much better look of my career interests, work preference, and style of thinking. The exercise showed me to locate many personal short-comings that would have kept coming up unfixed.
Learning the broad aspects of effective communication taught in the first week gave me good insight to my personal knowledge of the zones I shine workwise, and the zones in which I need to develop better in. The importance of knowing who I be communicating with and how they act to different ways communicate has shed a whole different light on things. It also shed a new light
on my career interest. It seems like I should be opening up and running my own tactical gear shop of my own. The career planning exercise said I would be good in book keeping and supply guy, I was doing that in the navy before I retired so I think I would be a shoe in for that type of work! Being in the customer service is right up my alley because I love great customer service. I’m a true believer of you get what you pay for , if you give bad customer service and expect a great tip then that person is wrong! That’s your job you are in the eyes of the public and all eyes are on you. When I was in the navy as a Ship serviceman first class I strived for the best for the customer and my coworkers. I treated everyone like I wanted to get treated as human being and also a customer I looked at the customer as if it was me and how I would wanted to get treated as a customer, I respected them and they respected me, respect is a two way street.na d further more I enjoyed my job so I think the career interest exercise hit the nail on the head.
In conclusion I think the exercise as a whole let you get an incite of what your strengths and weaknesses are and see are you where you think you supposed to be at and shed light on the correct career interest you want to be.
