Human Stem Cell Research –Increasing the health of people or Interfering with a higher power.
Introduction.
About Stem Cell Research. The human body has some 220 cells types, stem cells can be used to manipulate and create some or all of these cell types, which can be used to find cures for diseases and develop human body parts such as limbs, regenerate skin in burn victims, develop heart muscles for heart damage victims or generate healthy liver and blood cells. There are three types of stem cells that can be used for these purposes, embryonic stem cell, adult stem cells and induced pluripotent stem cells. Of these adult stem cells can only be developed into a few types of cells as they are less flexible and have already been specialized, embryonic stem cells can be used to create any of the 220 stem cells, however they are derived from human embryos and result in the death of the embryo, but now the latest type of stem cell known as induced pluripotent stem cells are basically ordinary adult stem cells that have been given a special type of treatment to exhibit similar qualities of embryonic stem cells without the ethical implications. (Human Stem Cell Research: All Views, 2001) Controversial Aspect. The controversial aspect of using embryonic stem cells is the fact that even though embryonic stem cells are derived from an embryo that is less than two weeks old from the date of conception, it has the potential to grow into a human being and some people consider this murder of a soul that God has created and implanted. I however feel that even though it has the potential to become a person at some point, at the time it is a two
