highlight of the news or the main thing to media is covering. According to the United Nations Protocol, to stop, suppress and ultimately put away trafficking in persons, particularly women and children (the Trafficking Protocol) came into power in 2003 under the umbrella of the United Nations Convention against transnational organized crime (UNTOC). From that point forward, a developing number of nations, including Australia, have presented alternately reinforced laws that criminalize a scope of practices identified with human trafficking. In Australia, between 1, January 2004 and 30, June 2012, 15 guilty parties (including no less than 37 victimized people and 9 plans) have been indicted trafficking in persons, subjugation and slaverylike offenses. Given the generally late concentrate on these sorts of wrongdoings, there has been little research on guilty parties in Australia or universally (Aronowitz, Theuermann & Tyurykanova 2010; David 2012). Coming off talking about Australia leads me to talk about one of the biggest human trafficking countries in the world and that is India. Some people in India target and traffic all sorts of people ranging from tourist, kids, men, but mainly women and low income families. They target majority women because they use them as sex slaves. Human trafficking can be in different forms whether it is being used as a sex slave or used for labor. One of the biggest risk India faces is diseases such AIDS and HIV because the sex slaves are forced and sometimes are not able to be protected during intercourse. Right now, there are 2.4 million individuals living with HIV in India, with the greater part of those infected acquiring the virus through heterosexual contact with female sex workers (FSWs). This introduction is usually by means of contact with a HIV infected FSW or through sex with a male counterpart who had such commercial sex involvement. Recent evidence demonstrates that HIV prevalence rates for FSWs (Female Sex Workers) are 15 times that of the community. Inside Maharashtra, prevalence rates of HIV among FSWs and male customers of FSWs have been reported to be as high as 18 and 12 %, separately. There are estimated to be more than 10,000 FSWs dealing with sex work in the city of Mumbai alone. While studies show that condom utilization is accounted for by the dominant part of HIV-infected individuals, conflicting and non-condom use stays common, especially among HIV-infected FSWs in India (Silvermen, Jay). India’s human trafficking rate is among the highest in the world and is something that India is trying to control. They are using undercover operations, raids of brothels and police investigations. So as you can see police forces are trying to slow the rate down. Even after slowing down the human trafficking rate in India you still have to be very aware of it going on in places like Africa as well. Along with India, Africa also has a high human trafficking rate and that comes as no surprise at all. According to Frank Laczko, Africa’s Human trafficking rate is at thirteen percent. That was latest number recorded and that was in 2005. The individuals that target people for human trafficking in Africa don’t mainly use them as sex slaves. They use majority of their victims for military purposes. Kids are targeted and are forced to learn how to shoot guns and are sometimes forced to kill their family members as well. The kids are required to do this so when they are in battle or confrontation from an enemy they have no problem and no hesitation when it comes time to kill them. West Africa experiences a blend of factors that make it helpless against organized crime.
It is one of the poorest regions on earth. In many nations governance is powerless. The region is situated along unlawful trafficking routes. Criminal groups can recruit foot soldiers from a huge pool of youth have no choice but to join and be recruited. Criminals are exploiting these conditions to traffic different things through the region ranging from things such as drugs (cocaine from South America to Europe); cigarettes; weapons and ammo; People (bound for illegal migration or the sex trade); fake meds; dangerous waste (including e-waste); oil; also, Natural resources (like hardwood and diamond). In some cases, the benefit of trafficking has a positive impact nearby local economies but has a negative effect on the people being trafficked …show more content…

Human trafficking is so out of control now that it might not ever be stopped completely but Special Forces and officers are trying to slow it down slightly. Europe is a prime example because no matter how many people they punish for human trafficking it always remains relevant and tremendous and quite aggravating problem to get rid of because they have so many different areas and regions they have to cover. Human trafficking ultimately messes up the ones that are trafficked in the long run. Ladies, men and children are trafficked for the purpose of sexual abuse and furthermore, forced labor and for the commercial marriage market, the selling of organs and for adoption. Western Europe is an area of destination for victimized people of trafficking from Central and South Eastern Europe and from the countries belonging to Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). According to many worldwide studies, ladies and girls trafficked for the reasons of sexual abuse constitute most of the identified victims of human trafficking. More evidence has been found of work or economic abuse (Roth). These victims of human trafficking are traumatized and never come out the same again. Some victims manage to escape but when they are finally free they aren’t sure how to overcome to trials and tribulations they have faced while they were enslaved and used as human sex slaves.
Europe has been subjected to human trafficking for quite a long time. Its goes back as far as the 90s. During the 1990s, trafficking was perceived as an issue influencing Europe. The breakdown of the communist regimes and the violent conflict in the area of previous Yugoslavia prompted enormous migration to Western Europe, contributing to the development of Central and Eastern European countries turning into a region of origin and Western Europe a region of destination. In 1995, the International Association for Migration (IOM) published a report analyzing trafficking from central and Eastern Europe to Western Europe, and a bit later two reports on trafficking for the main purpose of sexual abuse, specifically to Austria and Italy. The IOM tried to highlight the need of universal co-operation when battling irregular immigration and transnational organized crime as essential means in order to reduce trafficking in individuals. Before long, there emerged publications about the connections between trafficking in individuals, smuggling of migrants and transnational organized crime. Migrant trafficking, as it was initially called, was described as "a multi-billion dollar business for criminal organizations." (Roth) So as you can see Europe’s human trafficking problem is out of the roof. It’s a reoccurring problem because of the light punishment that they have for violating human trafficking laws. The maximum sentence that they get for human trafficking could be anywhere from three to seven years tops. Something has to been done there in order to reduce the rate of people being trafficked in Europe. The United States is a big human trafficking country just like India, Africa and europe. The United States uses something called escort services. Sometimes these girls and women are forced to work for these escort services and are beating, killed or even tortured when they don’t get the amount of revenue they were supposed to bring back to their “pimp” or in other words owner. These escort services bring in loads of money and is easily a billion dollar industry. According to the United Nations Human trafficking brings in over $9.5 billion yearly in the United States. The U.S. Branch of Justice says that approximately 300,000 kids are at danger of being prostituted in the United States (U.S. Branch of Justice). The average period of entry into prostitution for a child victim in the United States is 13-14 years of age (U.S. Bureau of Justice). A pimp can make $150,000-$200,000 every tyke every year and the normal pimp has 4 to 6 young ladies (U.S. Equity Department, National Center for Missing and Exploited Children). The average victim may be compelled to have sex up to 20-48 times each day. It is unreal how much of an impact human trafficking has on the economy but even though it brings in so much money it cannot continue to go on because it destroys the lives of others.
The United States has made prostitution illegal but it still hasn’t stopped people from trafficking individuals of all races and genders. The main areas that have open prostitution going on are areas like Las Vegas and even Washington D.C. These areas have some of the highest rates of prostitution and that leaks into the murder rate as well because of the women and people that are trafficked that are killed by their “owners” if they do not cooperate with their rules and
regulations To tie everything up, human trafficking is a great deal all around the world. It is a growing problem and until we as a society come up with a better way of dealing with human trafficking it will continue to grow. Not many people are able to escape and get away from being human trafficked and the ones that do get away are forever changed and will never be the same. This starts to open the worlds eyes and show them that human trafficking is serious and significant topic and should be taken more seriously all around the globe.
