Feedback

This is a nice, friendly letter, Aysen, which would give some information to answer your friend's questions.
For the makeover I have concentrated on the following points:
1. Spelling and punctuation. Remember to check your spelling very carefully during the exam and to make sure that you are writing proper sentences.
2. Vocabulary and expression. I have suggested some alternatives for you to consider.
Good luck for the exam!

In the first two chapters of the informative book, Modern-day Vikings: A Practical Guide to Interacting with the Swedes, Christina Johansson Robinowitz and Lisa Werner Carr provide readers with an overview of Sweden’s history and relate it back to present day Sweden. Modern day Sweden is most notably known for their welfare state. They are reputed for the countries conscious efforts towards equality, fairness, and high values. However, the Swedes also have a barbarous Vikings past that contradicts the welfare state they have obtained in this present day and age. The Vikings were known for being merciless warriors who used their impressive ships to travel to faraway lands and raid wealthy, defenseless monasteries . The very fact that the Vikings…

The exam will consist of multiple choice, fill-in-the-blank, and short-essay questions. Some of the multiple choice questions will be clearly marked with "circle ALL correct answers"--meaning that each possible answer (a, b, c, d) should be assessed independently. In other words, ask yourself "is A correct?" If so, circle it. Then move onto B. If B is correct, circle it, etc. Also note that NONE of the answers might be correct. Regarding the fill-in-the-blanks, I will ask you to provide the correct term to match a definition. Short essays will be largely pulled directly from this review sheet.…

    Moving: North vs. South

Let’s stay up North for a while and discover all it may have to offer. The snowy climate may be ideal for some people, but it’s not for me. You have to wear a layer of long johns and jeans, sweater, coat, hat and gloves to go brave the cold. It’s a very long winter season which is cold, wet and inconvenient to travel around in. There can be days and weeks on end where you may not get a glimpse of the sun at all. People use tanning beds to get a tan. Snow storms can be common in this area. The roads can be slippery and sometimes there can be travel bans because of the danger of road conditions. You are constantly hearing snow plows going by salting the roads. When the salt melts the snow, it gets very slushy and the salt gets on your vehicles and causes them to rust. If you enjoy the cold weather, you may enjoy some of the many activities that the Northern areas have to offer. There are plenty of ski resorts that offer everything from skiing to snowboarding to tubing. Most of these lodges also offer a warm lodge to get hot chocolate or a bite to eat, and a lounge for those who may like to have a cocktail. You may prefer to go sledding or build a snow man. Some people even go winter camping and hike with snowshoes. I personally enjoy riding snowmobiles with my family and friends. There’s nothing quite like riding the trails after they have been groomed.…

For hundreds of years the United States has been attracting immigrants from a variety of different countries, races, and religions to come live in a land full of freedom and opportunity. These people were looking for more than just rights and privileges. Their real desire was to become something that depicts pride and honor, an American. Being an American means much more than living in the United States to me. It means to me having freedom of speech to express your own opinion, freedom of religion, and equality for all, including different sexes, races, religions and status. But most of all it means having different benefits such as, being proud of the privileges we possess, it means a sense of pride for our country , and to be able to choose.…
