I would also show my students that I care about them and am concerned with their learning by the activities and group work that I assign. I want them to get familiar with one another and become familiar with different cultures and traditions. I believe even by the way I have their desks arranged in the classroom will contribute to their getting along with one another. I believe that by grouping the desks together, while this may create more opportunities for distractions or misbehaviors, if I was in a classroom with five different cultures and languages, I would go ahead and do this for the better cause, which is for the…

Schools are all built according to what the thinking was at the time of it being built. Some schools were built with open plan classrooms. This may cause problems with noise. If it is possible sliding doors should be installed and used to patrician the classroom off. If this isn 't possible different areas of the classroom can be used for different activities. For example when using the interactive white board the pupils could gather round it on the floor. When explaining a lesson pupils could sit round the teacher then go to their desks and do the work. Some schools…

To me, discipline is a process that enables students to learn to manage their own behaviors in a classroom setting. These learned skills will then carry over as valuable assets in their future careers as students, professionals and parents. I have come to look at management as facilitating the process of learning by establishing expectations in a classroom setting that allow for gains in academics, social behaviors and personal growth. Both of these tools combined are symbiotic in that they support each other and provide the teacher and students with a way to function together at an optimal level.…

What I’ve learned: This is not my ideal classroom, but it is definitely a good fit. Any storage space is being used in the desks allowing room for futuristic holograms. My ideal classroom is even more futuristic than this, but it would be difficult to put on paper. I would say the greatest difficulty faced was getting a draft of a classroom that would satisfy myself. I set up my own requirements. 1. Futuristic to a point where it can be drawn 2. Teachers desk in center 3. A way to have a small group of students and/or a large amount 4. Find a way to store things without using regular storage furniture. I didn’t have much trouble except the times when my duplicated objects would not appear. I would actually have…

A visual copy of the daily schedule is posted in the room to allow students to follow and anticipate the progress of activities. It also helps keep the staff on track in terms of time management throughout the day. The curriculum is designed to address core academic skills, as well as fulfill individual IEP goals for each student. Basic self help and social skills are integrated into each activity. I consider the desks in semi-circles and U-shape are the ideal shapes for my EFL classroom. Arranging the class in a semi-circle allows the teacher to observe the students and also the students will be able to see their classmates and the board. It is also perfect for conducting group discussions and participating in group conversations by building the students’ self-esteem and confidence in sharing their ideas, especially for students who are shy to present their work to others. On the other hand, semi-circle seating arrangement might not be helpful sometimes as the teacher might find it difficult to meet the students one-on-one. It is also not so handy if the class is not big enough because this seating arrangement will take much room than the normal row seating arrangement.…
