I Love Marriage Chapter 2 Analysis
According to the chapter 4 Reading 2 in View 2 on page 93 of the Catalyst 2 book Writing from Reading; I believe a marriage based on a love marriage. I think in the same way as View 2 about arranged marriages and love marriages because I feel people should trust in themselves, make independent decision, and be responsible for their own choices. Just as in the United States people live based on independent by their own life, trust in themselves, and responsibility of what they done and had decide. First reason I think in the same way as view 2 about arranged marriages and love marriages because I feel people should trust in themselves more than parents or a matchmaker. Based on a love marriage which mean two people trust in themselves more than someone else advice to them or decide for them of they have to do, and about choose someone to be a marriage partner for them. Just like in the Catalyst 2 book on page 93, chapter 4, reading 2, view 2, and paragraph 6 mean that they can understand their own feeling, their own decision and their mind better than just listen from someone telling them about their own future was like. In Michelle Goldberg’s article “Marry or Else,” she explains how forced marriages and honor killings are not just a part of a developing-world issue. Goldberg clarifies how these types of marriages also occur in America and England. Goldberg cites examples of young women, considered children are in fact being married off to old or mature men. Many girls adhere to forced marriages because if they do not they are threatened to be financially cut off or to be dead in the eyes of their family. Goldberg reports that these girls come from the United States and England and are shipped off to a man somewhere in India that they have never met or seen in their life. Goldberg explains that the parents promise their daughter to another family to wed their…

Chapter Nine is a turning point in the plot of Ian McEwan's Enduring Love. In the former chapters, Joe and Clarissa witness a ballooning accident in which a man dies. This event is an emotional shock for both of them. On that day, they meet Jed Parry, a Christian fanatic. The same night, he phones Joe saying “I love you”, but Joe, too scared of Parry and of worrying Clarissa hangs up and says that it is a wrong number (p. 37). Few days after, Joe confesses about it to Clarissa, adding that Parry had been following him at the library, but she reproaches him not telling her before and does not seem to believe in the stalking, and thinks he imagined the whole thing. Then, the real harassment starts : Parry waits for Joe at the front door, stays there all afternoon and fills Joe's answering machine with 29 messages of “love” (p. 78). When Clarissa comes home, Parry is gone and that is where Chapter Nine begins : she has had a very bad day and just wants to have a bath whereas Joe wants to share what he went through with Parry. What strikes us most is that in this chapter there is a narrative shift from a first person narrative (Joe's point of view) to a third person narrative (Clarissa's point of view). Why did Ian McEwan choose to change the narrative style in this chapter ? Moreover we witness here an argument between Clarissa and Joe and discover that they have very different viewpoints. Why does Clarissa doubt of Joe's tale ? What is Parry's influence on the couple ? What is the real impact of this chapter on the reader ? For this chapter 9, Ian McEwan chooses an omniscient narrator, following both Joe's and Clarissa's thoughts. All from the beginning we have been with Joe, we have heard all his thoughts, as if we were taking his place in the story. If Ian McEwan switches from a first person narrative to a third person narrative, it is to create a distance with Joe. By seeing Clarissa's feelings, we have another point of view, which can maybe be more accurate.…

Serena Nanda fails to write an impartial argument for arranged marriages versus "love match" marriages like those in the United States. She neglects to present the positive aspects of choosing a partner for marriage opting instead to keep the focus on the negatives. Her argument for arranged marriages is weak and unfocused leaving the reader to doubt her logic. In her attempt to persuade the reader to supporting arranged marriages, she actually emphasizes the negative effects of them. Reading Arranging A Marriage in India, strengthens the idealistic values of romantic love and exposes the flaws of arranged marriage including the extreme limitation of potential partners, inexperience and ignorance of the people, excessively traditional and sexist…

When Malala goes to the village, all of the women cook food for the men and take care of children, that's all anyone believes they are good for. “My mother and I stayed in the women's quarters downstairs.…

Each person has their own definition of loved based on their culture, background and upbringing, but we can all agree on love being something on lines of unconditional affection from your family, your friends, loved ones and that special person in your relationship. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, I disagree with arranged marriage; I believe that families should not have the right to set up their children with who they think best suits their child. I believe marriage is about two people who love, support and respect each other. I personally would not prefer my parents to set me up with someone who they think is a good match for me, because I have different standards then they do and I have a different idea of who the type of person I would like to spend my time with. Parents want to see their children with successful spouses and who they think are a good person. If parents were to choose who they want their child to marry then they will be too involved in the couple’s relationship, so if the relationship is not working out the couple would be too scared to get a divorce because of what their family might do.…
