children´s lives. For young adults, those fairy tale characters give away to darker characters and more realistic situations. However, what do they all have in common? They live in short stories. Two stories that are interesting are ¨Thank you Ma'am¨ by Langston Hughes and ¨The Sniper¨ by Liam O ´Flaherty. Both center around young boys who are having hard times in life. Roger in ¨Thank you Ma'am¨ tries stealing Mrs. Louella Bates purse. The sniper is fighting in the war for others. While there are some obvious similarities, both authors approach these stories, specifically the characters, tone and point of view, in different ways.…
In chapter 1 of “Dude You’re A Fag: Masculinity and Sexuality in High School,” the author mentions that “one of the ways a queer theory approach can bring studies of masculinity in line with other feminist theorizing is to uncouple the male body from definitions of masculinity.” What he means by “uncouple the male body from definitions of masculinity” is that the word male is normally associated with masculinity and in order to fully understand these theories we must stop genderizing the word masculinity. Instead, we must see masculinity as an organizing principle of social life (Pascue). It is important to decu…
In Janelle Monáe’s “Hell You Talmbout” she talks about people living in poverty. She first starts with the first verse saying that in poverty there is a lot of violence, from bombs being thrown, guns being pulled out, and a body lying on the streets from police brutality. In the chorus she repeats “Now what the hell you talking ‘bout?” this could be seen as Janelle speaking to an outsider who does not see all the violence and poverty, while those who live in those conditions experience it every day. In the second verse, Janelle addresses the topic of how fast drugs are traveling in poverty and how they are stealing from one another to get money for drugs. In the line “the poor man eats off of the rich men’s dollar,” Janelle refers to how many…
In “Go Tell it on the Mountain”, the Grimes family seems to be struggling with their religion. With the characters having hatred within the religion, living within fear (of God and Gabriel), and family members only caring when something major happens, the family’s religious belief does not seem to sit well with the Grimes. Every day, there always seems to be some sort of war going on, whether it's physical or spiritual, it always seems to be about the rejection of something. The major theme of “Go Tell it on the Mountain” is problems with religion because, the characters are arguing about their fathers puritanical policies, they they lie and keep it to themselves, and some family members are stubborn and won't be moved by someone being saved.…

Los Angeles Supervisor Hilda Solis spout her bravery joining immigrants skipping work; not shopping, not eating at restaurants, buying gas, or sending their children to school. The arrogance of the lady Ostrich having her head dipped and stuck in the sand not questioning the word, "immigrant," and "illegal immigrant." Stupid at best boasting, "To step up; to say to President Trump, not in my house; not in my country; not in my state." The signs would do well to alter into, "a day without unlawful immigrants." Americans look forward to having criminals vacate having Americans work regardless of toilet scrubbing, fruit picking, or street sweeping. There are Americans who are out of work and need to bootstrap cease the food stamp and assume…

Domitila Barrios De Chungara, a Bolivian woman, along with Moema Viezzer wrote the book Let Me Speak to illustrate and provide a deep understanding of the revolution and the living conditions of the miners and their family in Bolivia. In the current years, people cannot imagine their life without technology because technology has changed and developed many products. Various technologies are helping people to live their life with more comfort and convenience. Meanwhile, in the articles “Is Google Making Us Stupid?” by Nicholas Carr and “Smarter Than You Think” by Clive Thompson that I chose from they say I say, the authors are both argue about the technology, and they believe technology is changing the way on the human mind today. Although both articles are closely related, they are also completely different. Thompson think technology bringing us a lot of benefits, but Carr suspicious that the advancing technology is a wicked invention to us. However, to begin understanding…
In the essay written by Mary Seymour “Call Me Crazy, But I Have to Be Myself”, is about her difficulties in dealing with the people who are not alike her. Whereas, in the essay written by Brent Staples “Night Walker”, is also about his life in which he is isolated from the people in the society where he is living. He is upset that people distinguish other person by looking at their skin color. If the person skin color is black he mentions that they decide them as a criminal who kills the people for his needs. As kids begin playing competitive sports at earlier and earlier ages so to does the demand for training, and sport specific training seems to be at an all time high. However while trainers are great for helping in the category of weight loss or better overall health they often times do not have the tools to provide a great sport specific plan. The key to success is to match the demands of the activity with the exercise needed for those specific skills. The most common mistake that is made in this field is training for aspects that do not translate to your specific sport. Traditional exercises like bench press or curls while they may have some benefit in gaining overall strength it is often relied on way to often as the end all. In defining the needs analysis of an athlete it is very important to understand the specific dynamics of that sport, the current fitness level and measuring and stating clearly the goals. For my athlete I decided to choose a baseball player because that is what I grew up playing and in college and I have first hand seen many of the sport specific training exercise need to compete at a high level. Baseball just like many sports has a wide arrange of positions and skill sets. As a team you rarely ever practice together as it seems pitchers, infielders and outfielders have their own specific plan and exercises.…
