IAAS Orientation Program Essay
My full name is Dwi Chandra Pujayanti, and I am a sophomore at Chemical engineering, Brawijaya University. IAAS is the first organization that I’m applying to ever since my university acceptance and there are many reasons why I should be enrolled. Primarily, I am a hard working and dedicated student. I’ve always put my best in everything that I’ve done. I am not the type of person who gets put up to a big challenge and backs down. Also, I am such a responsible person, for example I take responsibilities at home from everyday chores to family obligations. I used to be the caretaker for my baby sister who is unable to be self-reliant. I am enthusiastic about taking up new challenges in life too. However, those things that I just brag about are my strong points, as a normal human being I also have weaknesses. Such as I am a very introvert, I also very quiet and timid at the beginning. Nevertheless, I don’t make my weaknesses as resistances to accomplish my goal. In fact I make them as a challenge to self. To win this challenge I required to find solutions to solve the problems, my weaknesses itself. Lately, and with some experiences to support I’ve figured out that actually the solution is no complicated at all. The key is I have to be an open minded person or someone who is willing to consider new ideas, or showing receptiveness to new ideas. From the aspect of agricultural, with some great honesty I know very little about it considering what I have studied so far. However, this little-knowing-about-agriculture thing could motivate me to have an even great curiosity than others who already knew about it.
If I am enrolled in this very particular organization called IAAS I would make my visions and missions statement and would try my best to make them to be achieved. One of my big vision is that IAAS especially IAAS LC UB could become a very big organization and widely known which drives by students and its each statements that IAAS LC UB make would have a big

The article titled “Brazil Seen Beating US in Soybean Trade as China Buys” discusses the rising production of soybeans in Brazil. The US is currently the largest grower of the product and therefore holds a comparative advantage in trade amongst nations. Rising supply from Brazil will create competition for the business of the largest demand which is held in China. “Production in Brazil climbed 53 percent in the past decade, compared with 7 percent in the US” (Javier, Chanjaroean, 2012). In 2012-2013, Brazil is said to produce 81 million tons of soybean as compared to 77.84 million tons in the US which portrays Brazil’s comparative advantage (Javier, Chanjaroean, 2012). China has imported 59.2 tons of soybean in the year ended September 30th of which, 45 percent were produced in Brazil and 39 percent were from the US. China utilizes soybeans to create meal for livestock and fish, and to produce cooking oil. It is clear that the US is losing its competitive edge on the production and distribution of soybeans mainly because it no longer possesses the comparative advantage in production. This analysis will discuss what enables a country to rise above its competition via the creation of comparative advantage in trade.…

Bryant McGill once said, "Whatever makes you uncomfortable is your biggest chance at growth". No matter the situation, people usually will either follow or lead. As a freshman in high school, I was the follower, never fully realizing my potential of being the leader. Finding myself would take time, and a lot of encouraging along the way. Going into my freshman year, my participation in class government was mostly a popularity contest. Which meant not so much about leading a particular class or group of people. I didn't find myself thinking about running for any major ASB (Associated Student Body) position. A larger, more pronounced position in ASB would mean being uncomfortable in more situations and also having to grow into true leadership.…

I am seeking entrance to the Honors Program because I am looking for a challenge. I have only been here at Howard University for a year, however, I believe I can take on more and push myself farther. In high school I was a member of honors classes and programs and although it was sometimes stressful and overwhelming, in the end the feeling I received was extremely rewarding and to be able to graduate knowing I attained not only high scholastics, but also high scholastics in an honors program would be so gratifying. The concept of striving farther and higher coincides with my personal morals and beliefs along with my goals and aspirations I wish to achieve in life and here at Howard. Although everyone I have encountered in the School of Business…
