Scenario
You have a new post at a local website company iWeb as a junior programmer.
You have been asked to design a website for a local promotions company who has won the contract to advertise and promote a new festival in the Teesside area, taking place the summer of 2014.
Task 1 (P4)
Design a website for your client, ensuring suitability for purpose and target audience.
To do this you should prepare several design documents and make sure the website requirements (Page 2 of this document) are covered. You need to produce:
An identification of need document which includes:
A domain name for the site
Nature of interactivity e.g. online transactions, static versus dynamic.
Outline ways for secure purchasing (verified by visa etc.).
Include a support and maintenance contract for 1 year with multiple changes.
Include a strategy for effective visibility on search engines; specifically be on the first page of Google within 3 months.
A mood board detailing your initial design ideas
A functionality summary – which suggests ways of improving accessibility and ease of use on your website.
Template storyboards – detailing layout techniques e.g. frames, tables, block level containers (DIV), inline containers (SPAN) AND house style.
Individual page storyboards – detailing layout techniques e.g. frames, tables, block level containers (DIV), inline containers (SPAN), page names AND outline of content.
Software choice proposal – detailing markup languages e.g. HTML; client side scripting languages e.g. JavaScript, VBScript; features and advantages of software languages; software development environments. (Compare different ones and come to a conclusion)
