Though Ida Mae and I are very different, but still alike in ways like worldviews. One difference with Ida Mae is, she flys. “So whenever Daddy was willing, I flew with him” (Smith 31). I don’t fly, but I would like to feel the wind in my face, whipping at my hair, Ida Mae can feel that. Secondly, Ida Mae and I are different in our history. First,
Ida Mae has a different place to live. Secondly, she has a younger and older brother. Her younger brother is creative and calm. He was the one to tell Ida Mae about the WASP. Her older brother became a doctor after what happened to their father. Personally, I have two older brothers. The oldest one is in college and walks my family’s dogs everyday. My second oldest brother is lazy and plays video games all day. He also takes swimming lessons.. Next, Ida Mae and I are alike in our friends. We both like a good energetic friends and some quiet ones. Ida Mae had a friend named Patsy who is outgoing, friendly, bold, and adventurous. Patsy is a character you don’t want to miss. I have a friend like that. Her name is Emilia. She is very friendly, kind and outgoing.
In addition to the relationships, Ida Mae and I are alike in the world views. First, Ida believes that everyone should have a second chance at life. Second, That all people may not be kind; but they can certainly change. Lastly, life is fun at times, but there will be a winding path to separate you from loved ones or loved things. Similarly, I believe in some of those things that Ida Mae thinks are her views. I think that people should have a second chance at life, we all make mistakes after all. I also think that all people are not necessarily kind. Like Ida Mae I believe that people can change, even if they don’t want to. Not to mention that I also am in agreement with Ida Mae on that there are struggles in life, things to get in the way of fun. Not everything will be fun, but you can certainly make it that way.
After all, me and Ida Mae cannot be in agreement of everything. We are different in social norms. Ida Mae is in agreement of that not all life's not fair. Now that we are in different timelines and sides of the world, a little more things are fair in 2016. Ida Mae is black, but pretends she’s mexican to get into her WASP camp. Personally, I think that life is fairer with the new non-segregated laws to make things more fair.
In conclusion, Ida Mae and I are more alike in ways than different. Me and Ida Mae are alike in relationships with our brother and friends. We are also alike in the view of the world. But we may be different in social norms and many other things. I found that the novel FlyGirl was very interesting. I found the theme to be, value everything in life, for it may not last forever.
