Identify And Meet Individual Learner Needs Essay
2.1 Explain why it is important to identify and meet the individual needs of learners In my specialism my role is to promote good progress and outcomes of students. To reach the target I have to identify learners’ needs. What is a learner’ needs? A learner’s needs represent the gap between what the learner wants to get out of the learning experience and his or her current state of knowledge, skill and enthusiasm.

In my current practices I find out the needs by asking the students, or during the first class, I observe how they react, if they are willing to learn, how motivated they are. By identifying and meeting their need I will be able to evaluate areas where learners are weak and also find out what are their strengths.

It helps the teacher to see what the student already know and what needs to be develop. In my teaching practices this assessment will give me a general aspect of the class. The initial and diagnostic assessment are organise at the beginning of a course, this put all students at the same level. From the initial and diagnostic assessment I will determine students' knowledge. By marking the copy of each students, I will easily see which part of the assessment has been done properly and which part has been neglected.

It is necessary to remind that each student got the same assessment copy. The result of the assessment will help me to make different group of students if this is useful, in order to work with them. The assessment is not there to discriminate students, but it shows the level of the students. It will show the students own needs.
