Summary This article focuses on the relationship between the children’s musical identity, motivation on practicing musical instruments and the achievement they made. Most of the children choose to give up on playing musical instrument within few years, but then regret it later in life. This is because they do not believe in themselves and cannot cope with the challenges. Social environment is the main cause that affects the identity of children before they commenced learning in music. For example, children who exposed in music environment before learning it and having interest in it might form a long-term view of themselves as musicians. The reason is children with long-term view will able to sustain motivation in learning music, as they will think themselves as future musician. The conclusion they made is relevant to the issue but it is a logical conclusion as there is lack of evidence to prove that it is true throughout their life. The line of reasoning which is not well supported has come to an alternative conclusion, which is they might not get high achievement if they are influenced by external factor during the process of learning
