Identity In Missy Higgins's 'Scar'
Identity, the one thing that we all have in common, Identity feeds on peers influences & recklessness, one's identity is shaped by the negligence of others & can leave you shattered & torn. ‘Scar’ by Missy Higgins demonstrates identity throughout the song, the lyrics are influential upon my understanding because they insight a message, she wants the listener to feel her pain to take grasp of the reality that is sadly more apparent than one might think.
The examples are reoccurring and are as such ‘doesn’t that sound familiar? Doesn’t that hit too close to home?’ etc. Those few brief lines whilst simple; are effective and impact upon the reader/ listener throughout repetition & rhetorical questions.
