It was a bright sunny Wednesday afternoon and I was walking towards my car. I got out of class early and was heading home to get myself ready to spend time with my bright and intelligent students. Sometimes when I get out of class my body feels overwhelmed and tired. Perhaps it feels this way because of all the things that are going on in my life like family, friendship, relationship, community service, and homework assignments. I feel like I am very busy that I often do not have time for myself. However when I arrived to El Jardin that quickly changes. The students that I work with on Wednesday fill my life with positive attitude and energy that I often forget about the worries and stress that I encounter during the day. I really love my Wednesday shift more than my Tuesday shift because I have a stronger connection and attachment towards the two girls that I work with. On Wednesday’s, I work with two bright and intelligent 6th grade girls named Arisa and Janet. Both of them have special qualities and a sweet kind heart.…
Texas history, as we learned about it in text books, has only told half of the story of Texas Independence. Every school child learns the story of the Alamo and how the brave souls paid with their lives for our freedom. What the historians failed to mention was all of the patriots who were involved, leading up to the Alamo and those who fought after. One of these patriots was Juan Sequin, who ended up paying for his patriotism with banishment, and being marked a traitor. It would be many years after his death before the full story of what this man, and others, actually achieved.…

My family is my biggest distraction. All of their tasks and activities come before mine, and always have. I also love to help other people, and I say yes to everyone and everything. It’s exhausting sometimes, and even though I realize that I shouldn’t say yes to everyone all the time, I still do. Then I struggle with completing “MY” tasks that must get done either for work, school, or church. I procrastinate, and find myself in a tailspin at the end of the week or just before a deadline. I hate that I do it, and say to myself all the time that I will never do this again, and the next week or month it happens again.…
Habit number 1 is Be Proactive, in the book it states that Be Proactive means; “I am the force”, and “Take responsibility for your life.” One of the biggest things I came away with from this habit is being responsible for your own behavior; past, present and future. This habit is significant for my personal like so I make choices based on values and principles and not by peer pressure. Be Proactive is a helpful habit, so you choose not to be a victim or blame others for your mistakes. Next is another one of my favorite habits, Put First Things First.…
Life is so busy, especially in today society, where people have to do many things to be success. Being a part of this society, I have been doing many tasks every day in order to achieve my goals. After I learned about “The multitasking and time management” and “Eisenhower’s urgent/important principle”, I realize that the way I organize my tasks and activities is not reasonable. Because of unreasonable organized tasks and activities, I have been wasting my time and put myself into stress situations.…

In some ways that I procrastinate is doing the dishes or doing my homework or doing chores, pretty much anything that involves me getting up and doing something. I believe I procrastinate like once in awhile, for an example my mom asked me to do the dishes at 3:00 in the afternoon I would do it around 3:10, it may seem like I am lazy but i really am not, I mean what teenager wants to wash the dishes. the only time I don’t procrastinate is when I want something, i’m pretty sure every teenager does this. Like take me for an example, my best friend in the whole wide world’s birthday is coming up and she asked my best friends and me if we can go so for that being I don’t hesitate on washing the dishes or vacuuming or doing my homework - nope - I would do what every average teen would do .. I don’t procrastinate. What I blame my procrastination is for…
When a person is told about one of his habits, he will have denied. They may not know because they have never paid attention to them. Once he analyzes his habit carefully the person see what his habit is. One of his habits is keeping organized. He sees this habit developing when he was young. He had to make sure that his room is organized before he when to bed and before he when to school. As he grows up he kept on doing this on his own because he was so used to it. His role model of this habit was his mother and aunt. She always made sure that her house is well organized before leaving anywhere. Even when she is home she made sure everything was clean and in order. Seen this behavioral from his mother made it more of a habit. He has tried to break this habit when he married. He has left the organizing to his wife. Is very hard for him do release trying to organized just because he felted it need to be done by him. That because to go from one way to a totally new way is unnatural. It comes as a shock to his mind, body and soul and they will fight fiercely to return to a way that is familiar to them. Changing a habit is not as easy as people think it is. His habit of been organized stared young. By seen and been told to keep his room organized. As he kept on doing what, he was told do to, his habit of been organized become part of his personality. As he develops a…
It is a fact of life that everyone will need to do housework, even if there are a million other things they would rather be doing. For some people, it seems to be a miserable or tedious endeavor. Perhaps it would be more enjoyable thinking about housework as an opportunity to lose us in another new world. “The Zen of Housework” by Al Zolynas is a wonderful poem about finding the sacred in those most ordinary tasks. Seeing the kind of sacred in Al’s housecleaning also requires a great sense of humor. The poem captures the moment of the author’s dishwashing to be the most enjoyable and extraordinary moment in life.…

My parents have high expectations for me that sometimes I feel like I cannot meet. Failure is not an option in their eyes, as many other parents. They expect me to work hard to achieve their expectations and to get what I want in life. Sometimes, I’m excited at first to work to get what I want. For example, in “One Last Time”, the author says “When we arrived I was frisky and ready to go…” (Soto). When work first started for him, he was excited and ready to learn new skills in order to be successful. I can relate to this because every time I try something new, I’m excited to do it at first but then farther down the line, once I’ve been doing it for a while, it just becomes routine and boring to me and my parents expect me to keep…
For myself change project I choose to become more organized within myself and the things that surround me such as, friends, family, boyfriend, and school. In the beginning of this process it was tough following the chart I organized to help keep my time management on track. I would continually catch myself procrastinating and achieving the things that I enjoyed rather than needed. For example, socializing amongst my friends, family, and boyfriend, instead of ensuing my school homework. However, I knew it was getting out of hand whenever turning in my assignments or almost being late to work suddenly became a major issue for me. As those moments of anxiety lingered through my body, I just wanted to break down crying because I was so over whelmed and frustrated within my self’s lack of motivation.…
We all go through it, there is too much to do and not enough time to do it. Our days are like this more often than not. I’m a single mother of two young boys; I always find myself picking up someone from one event and taking them to somewhere else. Life is a constant challenge to be one-and-a-half places at once, doing two or three things at once. As I go through my day I find myself doing two or three things at a time, multitasking, as I believe as they refer to it, often with the use of some type of technology I have: my IPod, phone, or mini laptop with me all the time. When I work out, I keep an eye on my crawling infant son, as I use the DVD player and talk to his dad on the IPod. Other times I cook dinner, while helping my other son with his homework, and maybe check an email or two, and look up a recipe…well that about sums up the idea hectic life style for most people. What I’m actually doing is a series of tasks one at a time and switching constantly between them. The problem with serial tasking is that it leads to lower quality and less productivity. The rice came out a little overcooked, I think I might have sent the wrong email to the wrong person, and we’re still working on the homework. If concentrating on one thing at a time, I would have had a better chance to do more tasks correctly.…
