The live performance that I had attended to was Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra “Messiah” near Madison, WI. The genre of composition is supposed to be drama. This composition genre is an oratorio, which is a large-scale dramatic genre originating in the Baroque. Baroque is based on text of religious or serious character, performed by solo voices, chorus, and orchestra; similarto opera but without scenery, costumes, or actions. This specific oratorio is different because this composition is in three parts but is compilation of biblical verses from Old and New Testaments. The text for “Rejoice greatly” is actually from the New Testament itself.…

Earlier this year, XXL magazine released a video of Desiigner performing a freestyle titled “Timmy Turner”, a bit that surprised a lot of hip hop followers who believed that the guy who delivered “Panda” would be yet another one hit wonder. However, the small, 46-second video upended everybody’s expectations of the young rapper, and created a huge hype over the Internet. Desiigner’s freestyle is everything “Panda” is not: impromptu, melodically complex and sung gently in a hushed voice, rather than rapped in an aggressive style. Because of the ridiculous success that the freestyle had, Desiigner decided to release a full radio version of the song that had the same melodic, catchy hook placed right at the beginning of the piece.…

“You’re a faggot.” “Ew, that’s so gay.” Take a minute and think about how many times you hear these phrases on a daily basis. Slanderous terms like these are some among many other homophobic sayings that are used daily by people all over the world. Why is this? How have the terms ‘faggot’ and ‘gay’ become part of our daily vocabulary? How have these terms become synonymous with the terms ‘lame’ or ‘stupid’? With the youth of our world bred into constant hateful thoughts, the possibility for a positive outlook for our future generations is slim. Macklemore’s song and music video, Same Love, aims to point the youth in our society in a new and forward thinking direction. Macklemore, who is one of the most popular artists in today’s hip-hop industry, recognizes the issues within our society and uses his influence on people to help make a difference in the world. The song that represents me from the Husky Band playlist would be Uprising. It’s a little difficult to put the “how” into words, as the words of the song only represent me a little, but the musical journey it takes you on is what I think describes myself. First and foremost, many people take others based on first impressions. I can easily be described as a quiet and awkward person, and for a lot of people they don’t see those as qualities that can succeed - especially in a position that aims to make sure the crowd is pumped. But look where I am now, I’m a third year in my second year as squad leader and planning to audition for section leader - something I’m sure many people wouldn’t have expected in my rookie year. I’m still incredibly quiet, but it just goes to…

I decided to pick two tools that seem very helpful for songwriters to write music. The first one is Hookpad. Hookpad has many useful tools for a songwriter to write their music. This is a great program for people who are beginners in songwriting. Even if you don’t know how to read or write music, this program can teach you little bit of music theory and how some notes can go well with other. The program gives you the ability to make you melody with just notes or chords, but also guides you if the chords or notes fit well in the pieces. Also, if your feeling stuck it helps you what cord/note goes well next. To top it off, once your done making your pieces, the program could convert you music into a music sheet, guitar sheet, or you had make…

“Rock On” by Tucker Beathard addresses the topic of love. The song is about losing the one you love and regretting letting them go. The song starts out by him saying “Girl I really did mean it when I wished you the best.” (Beathard) Tucker starts and ends the song with this line because he wants the girl to know he really does still loves her. He says in the song “I gotta tell you I can't stand / The thought of someone else holding that hand / I should have put a rock on.” (Beathard) By saying “I should’ve put a rock on”, Tucker talks about how he let her go when he wishes he would have kept her and proposed instead of letting her go. The theme gets deeper in the song when Tucker says “I saw your hash tag diggin' on some new dude / Girl you…
