Immigration In America
Immigration has had many effects on America, but has left a profound and every lasting effect on America's economy. Immigration has left positive imprints all over America's economy and still is to this day. However those imprints are commonly overlooked. Immigrants help in stimulating America's economy, displacing our unemployed working age Native born, and creating jobs.
As immigrants come over to America they bring with them money to spend, unemployed seeking work, and their own goods and services to sell. With the flow of immigration comes the flow of work, which means there needs to be jobs to meet this demand. Many American businesses understand this situation and actually expand to meet the increasing population. With this comes new opportunity for immigrants and Native born. Immigrants also bring their own businesses with them, according to the Penn Wharton Budget Model immigrants are actually, " at the forefront of innovation and ingenuity in the United States, accounting for a disproportionately high share of patent filings, science and technology graduates, and senior positions at top venture capital-funded firms. In addition, the presence of immigrants often creates opportunities for less-skilled native workers to become more specialized in their work, thereby increasing their productivity." This means when Immigrants bring their businesses with them, they provide opportunity to Native born who do not meet many job requirements. These businesses allow Native born and immigrants to add more money flow to the economy, thus strengthening it. As if they did not do enough for the business world already, immigrants also help inspire new business ideas and inventions. It is argued that immigrants set up illegal businesses and avoid tax. This is practiced by many native born as well, so one cannot simply target just immigrants with this topic.
