Immigration has had many effects on America, but has left a profound and every lasting effect on America's economy. Immigration has left positive imprints all over America's economy and still is to this day. However those imprints are commonly overlooked. Immigrants help in stimulating America's economy, displacing our unemployed working age Native born, and creating jobs.
As immigrants come over to America they bring with them money to spend, unemployed seeking work, and their own goods and services to sell. With this comes heavy flows of money that will circulate through our economy and make it stronger .Immigration actually stimulates America's economy so much that according to Jason Furman and Danielle Grey, " Our American journey and
our success would simply not be possible without the generations of immigrants who have come to our shores from every corner of the globe." America's economy would not have become so great if it did not have the influence of immigration. As immigrants come over they bring more than just their money, people, and goods they also increase the demand of many American services and products. With this increase of demand businesses seize the opportunity to increase their income of money. Leading them to putting money into production of goods, and hiring people to meet the level of production they want. Thus putting large amounts of money into the economy. Many argue that immigration does not stimulate America's economy, but sets up economic inequality. However, immigrants come to America and find opportunity for their survival, and create opportunity in the process for others.
One of the most valuable things immigrants bring to America's economy is their want of employment. Immigrants come to America seeking many things such as opportunity. Those who come over seeking employment help fill the void left in our workforce left by non-working Native born. The lack of Native born who work can cause America's economy to become weakened because businesses cannot meet production requirements, which means less goods are being produced which leads to no money circulating in the economy. With the flow of immigrants, and their hunt for employment, this problem becomes less of an issue. Immigrants also bring their diverse skill sets which helps fill many different needs America has. Sometimes America needs more doctors, lawnmowers, even cooks, and immigrants are so diverse in their training that they help fill many of these demands .As stated by the National Academic Press, " If immigrants have skills that complement those of other native workers, those native workers will gain from immigration... Immigrants might also take jobs that no native would or could take. This would enable the economy to produce goods or services that it would otherwise not produce." This means that when immigrants bring their diverse skill sets, they help Native born workers by using their skill sets to improve the Native born to do better in business. Also it supports that immigrants help fill the voids in our economy. However, many Native born argue that immigrants are not helping displace jobs, but are instead stealing them. This is not a factual statement however, because someone cannot steal what someone never had. Thus meaning immigrants are not "stealing" jobs, but are simply helping improve America's economy by working and allowing money to circulate through the nation's economy.
American business also sees opportunity in immigration.
With the flow of immigration comes the flow of work, which means there needs to be jobs to meet this demand. Many American businesses understand this situation and actually expand to meet the increasing population. With this comes new opportunity for immigrants and Native born. Immigrants also bring their own businesses with them, according to the Penn Wharton Budget Model immigrants are actually, " at the forefront of innovation and ingenuity in the United States, accounting for a disproportionately high share of patent filings, science and technology graduates, and senior positions at top venture capital-funded firms. In addition, the presence of immigrants often creates opportunities for less-skilled native workers to become more specialized in their work, thereby increasing their productivity." This means when Immigrants bring their businesses with them, they provide opportunity to Native born who do not meet many job requirements. These businesses allow Native born and immigrants to add more money flow to the economy, thus strengthening it. As if they did not do enough for the business world already, immigrants also help inspire new business ideas and inventions. It is argued that immigrants set up illegal businesses and avoid tax. This is practiced by many native born as well, so one cannot simply target just immigrants with this topic. Many people in America start businesses illegally and legally, just as people
coming over to America start businesses in both of those fashions. For every illegal business there is bound to be a legal business that is helping stimulate the American economy.
