With some form of media surrounding us every day the influence it plays in our lives is undeniable. It can be in the form of twenty-four hour news coverage on the cable channels, the local news, the latest song blasting repeatedly over the airwaves for months at a time/the iPods and head phones constantly plugged in or even the popular video games that you can play alone or with friends to unwind these forms of media dominate a lot of people’s lives. These forms of media are sending overt or subliminal messages to all who engage in them. With all these messages constantly bombarding us in one form of media or another it is important to understand the messages that are being sent, who the audience that receives them is and what effect they are having on society.
This is important because there are a lot of vulnerable people who are open to suggestion and are easily influenced by what they see and hear. There are people who expose themselves to these forms of media who do not or cannot process the information provided in a constructive way.
