Reflection Paper The project implicit test I took was a new experience for me. I’ve never taken an assessment like that before. The test I took was on African Americans and Europeans Americans. I was nervous before I took the test because I was not sure or familiar with how the test was like. I read the first set of directions and did not get what I was supposed to do still. After reading more directions, I finally understood what I needed to do. The direction it gave me was to categorize things using the “E” and “I” keypad. One side had African and the other has European. The other categories were “bad” and “good”. I had to categorize pictures of people’s face, words, and virtues to which I think they belong. It was a fun test and I learned from it. This test made me realize how fast people judge other people. We categorize things based on their values and content. I recall “African” and “bad” in the same side of the box and “European” and “good” in the other side. I started to wonder where that section was leading to. It made me think how people label black people as being bad and white people as good. This test always required me to match the picture as fast as I could. It was as if I had to think fast. It’s almost like speaking without thinking. I did my best to think as fast as I could. I remembered making about five mistakes. I tried my best to answer the questions to the best of my knowledge and fast too. I was bummed when I didn’t get my scores. Growing up on a small island, I was not influence on the many different race and ethnicity I’m facing right now. I am a Pacific Islander and a minority out here in the United States. People think that I do not know English well or that I’m an immigrant. It breaks my heart whenever this happens to me. My island is a Commonwealth to the United States. I learned so much about the United States government and its people while they have no knowledge about where I am from. I am glad I took
