Importance of Examinations
The world Examination is noun of the word 'examine'. It means to test in order to verify, to judge and to certify, certain facts. Examination is a very wide word, which is used in all spheres of life. The learned examiner does not want that sense of examination to be discussed. He has in his mind the University Examination and he wants to know whether the institution of Examination should continue or should be abolished.

Some persons are of opinion that examination is not the sure test of the ability of a candidate. The present examination system is based on cramming and to pass the examination has become more a matter of chance than that of ability. Again, the present system of examination promotes other evils such as copying and even corruption.

The violent accidents in the examination halls strengthen this claim. Even today we are told that a third-year student in one of the centers in Delhi gave a sound beating to an invigilator who objected that the candidate should not copy. The pity of the incident is that a police constable was in league with that candidate and he brought the material for him to be copied. Again, how can, the ability of a student be checked by a few questions? The answer to it is certainly in the negative. Thus, there is a strong case that it should be abolished.

There are others who think that examination is a must. How can we do without an examination? Life in itself is a big examination. At every footstep we have to face certain tests. The success is always marked with dignity and honor in all the examinations of life. Examinations add to our ability, power of toleration, perseverance and other good qualities. They think that examination is not only necessary but it is also a blessing.

Everybody has been afraid of examinations. Even Lord Christ once uttered, "May God not put anybody to test". Teachers, students, examiners and examinees, all think that examination is a curse, a horror and a terror. Most of the mental

An examination is nothing more than an investigation of a man's knowledge, conducted in a way that the authorities have found the most fair and convenient to both sides. But the medical student cannot see it in this light. Examinations touch off his fighting spirit; they are a straight contest between himself and the examiners, conducted on well-established rules for both, and he goes at them like a prize-fighter.…

However, take-examinations have been employed by many educational institutions because they believe in the benefits which are brought to them. In my own point of view how can we judge it as a fair indication of the learner’s ability when we are not sure whether students themselves do the test or they have it done. Nowadays there are many academic services growing as mushrooms. Students can hire someone to work on their assignments even theses. These services may be weakening learners’ real ability.…

The ability to pass an examination is indeed a valuable quality. It shows that the student is able to express his thought and ideas to a manner others can understand. It also shows that the student has acquired a certain amount of knowledge in some branches of study. Besides, the mind of a student, even if he is dull, receives good exercise when he prepares for an examination. A student’s success in an examination, therefore, helps employers and others to assess his mental or general ability.…

Exams. The word that most student fear off. Exam is a part of school life that all students have to go through. There are advantages in exams that are held in school. But there are people who think that exams give more disadvantages to the students. Even though some people say that exams should be abolished because they encourages cramming, I believe that they should not be abolished because exams are the only way for teachers to get feedback from their students build high moral standards and discipline in the students, and gives pressure that will be useful later in the life for the students.…

As we know that the examination system has come to be the main theme of modern education. Everyone from his early child-hood should take endless examinations and succeed in passing them, before he could graduate from a college or university. As much importance has been attached to it in school education, it has been subjected to mounting criticism as to its validity. People in favor of it praise this system to great extent; and those opposing to it maintain that such a system should be abolished. A lot of people think that the examination system should be abolished. In the first place, because of the existence of the examination system, students go out for gaining high marks so that they often forget the main purpose of education. Many so-called "clever" students are nothing but bookworms who merely know the skeleton of knowledge. The aim of education is to enable students to learn how to live, how to work, and how to contribute to the country with their expertise. To do this, the students must receive training, in physical as well as mental areas. But the present examination system has discouraged students from making such an attempt. Furthermore, since the students try so hard to memorize, in a short period of time, as much as possible, psychologically, they will forget the whole subject as soon as the exam is over. Surely, this is one of the greatest wastes ever made in the history of human civilization. I do have the same opinions as those people do. But I do not agree with them that the examination system should be abolished. Let's clarify some things first. Take Thomas Edison and Marie Curie for instance. Edison stayed at school for only three months when he was young. Because he always asked strange questions that his teachers thought he was a fool. So they sent him away from school. Little poor Tom had to teach himself to learn. But he made more than 2,000 inventions years later.…
