Imagine a day without them .I wouldn’t necessarily say it’s impossible but as humans it is our natural instinct to know what is happening in the world around us. Nobody wishes to live in ignorance , hence newspapers have grown to become an essential part of modern civilisation.
These neatly folded sheets which await us every single morning holds the voice of the world collected from north, east, west and south just overnight with a main objective to bring the world problems and their solutions out into the light .
Neither the advent of the television nor that of the Internet could affect the importance of the newspaper. The reason for this is the width, breadth and the depth of the news provided by the newspaper, its low cost and the ease of providing the news at our leisure and comfort as many times as we desire. Different people expect different things from the newspaper. A business man wants to know the market trends, a farmer is eager to know the weather report; a book reader wants to know about the latest arrivals. A newspaper satisfies them all like an intimate friend.
It is evident that a newspaper is a great power in a democratic country as it maintains a close connection between the government and the people. It deeply influences public opinion.
