My present position is a Marketing professional which is one of the career matches under the artistic personality type. I love what I do and the freedom in which it allows. My job allows me to be me and express myself. In the end I intend to obtain my degree in the healthcare communication and marketing field. I feel that I have finally found my niche. I feel being satisfied and loving what you do will show through in your personality, the way you handle yourself and the way that you interact with others. I am more confident and relaxed when doing what I am passionate about. I have had many clients say to me that they chose my service because of me. They could see how much I believed in it and it made them comfortable enough to make the decision to move forward. Choosing the right career makes all the difference. Money is part of the factor, because we need it to live, but passion is what will ultimately drive you forward. Whereas just the opposite happens if you take a job you hate. The money may be…
While the current career path that I am in has not been my dream, it has been a career that has allowed me to mature intellectually and personally. It has also provided me with plenty of opportunity to know what I do not what to do professionally.…
The first value that I wish to live my life by is to be present with mind and self. This also involves accepting the good and the bad. And understanding that I have no control of anything outside of myself and my reactions. Which includes being aware and present when interacting with others and giving everyone my complete attention. Many people around me…
The most important goal for my future is to obtain a satisfying career. Growing up I saw how unhappy my mother was working at a job that she hated just to make enough to provide for our family. I further understood how important a satisfying career was to me when I started working the graveyard shift as a dockworker during community college. I strongly disliked almost everything about the job including the exposure to extreme temperatures, the job’s filthy nature, the long and irregular hours, and most of all because it was unfulfilling. I was miserable with my occupation but I was dependent on it because it was lucrative and provided me with a way to support myself through college. I worked fulltime at this job for two years while also being a fulltime student until I transferred to SIU. The dread that I felt toward my job made me work harder academically because I knew that someday my hard work would amount to a career that I thoroughly…
Choosing a career is one of the most important decisions a person has to make in their life. It is so important because that is what we will have to do to support ourselves throughout life. Imagine being stuck in a dead end job and having to go to work every morning and dreading it. Life is too short to work 35 years and be unhappy with it. If a person likes their job, then it is not work, because finding satisfaction out of a job can bring great happiness. That information has enabled me to make the decision of choosing my area of study and career in the field of Nursing.…
My two core values are Family and Faith. My top priorities in life are God and my family. It wasn't hard for me to choose my top two core values because I know that with God and my family I am able to achieve the other things. My family were the first people to provide me with love, happiness, friendship, and wisdom. They have been here for me every step of the way and as I am getting older, everything I strive to be and to do is ultimately to help them and make them proud. Faith is very important to me and that is something that my family has taught and instilled in me. Everything I do is for the approval of God. I have learned that hat God has for me is for me. Therefore, I am able to achieve success, peace, status, and wealth if that is…
In order to live day by day, I simply follow five core values that make me the person I am today. The five core values that I live by are: family, education, honesty, responsibility, and open-minded. Core values are important to live by because they are what makes a person and it is important to see someone’s characteristics of what they value. According to dictionary.com, the definition of value is “the regard that something is held to deserve; the importance, worth, or usefulness of something” (dictionary.com, 2016). Like the definition states, values are something of importance and each individual cherishes different values, which they find important and what fits their lives in the best way. My family are the one’s who…
Careers only identify a small piece of a person, but it does provide insight to the individual base of what he or she was designed in this life to do. As human beings we have needs to survive, therefore people must be careful in choosing a career that impacts their overall health and mental state. Careers that are not designed for an individual can cause stress, lack of fulfillment, lack of interest on the job, or even developing mental and social issues. Sometime financial rewards can lead us into jobs that we really don’t want; finding out later we should not have taken it. Loving what you do in life and getting paid to do it can be one of the greatest rewards.…
The article “Are You Deciding On Purpose” about the interview of author, speaker, and counselor Richard Leider really made me think about my life and what I want to do with myself. Leider brings up many great points in the interview and it was an eye opener for me after I finished reading the article. The first thing he mentions in the interview is how people are intimidated by all the choices we have now as career options. Nowadays, there are so many career paths to choose from that it overwhelms people and the decisions that they make. I think this is true for everyone and especially me. I thought about this for a while and I too do not have any idea what I want to do in my life. I have changed my mind many times about what I wanted to do as a career and I always thought about the money. After I finished reading the article, I realized that picking a career path is not all about the money. It’s about whether you enjoy what you are doing because you spend 60% of your entire life working. If I spent 60% of my entire life just working to pay the bills, I would be miserable by the time I’m retired because there wasn’t any satisfaction or fulfillment for me. I still don’t have any clue on what I want to do with my life but reading this article really changed my mind on a lot of things.…
I agree with Dorothy Sayer’s in her idea that some individuals only choose certain occupations because of the income or the status that they could gain. With our every increasing money focused society, it is hard to not consider income as one of the qualities of choosing a career. Although, it is important to look beyond those two characteristics. There are many careers that are essentially a service to others. I can only hope that my accounting mindset will be just that: a service to others. If my abilities, desires, and opportunities all aligned my life as an accountant would be perfect. I would see my dreams of becoming a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) come true; however, the title CEO would mean more to me than just a status. It would boost my inner confidence and reassure me that I can achieve my dreams with hard work and dedication. I think everyone should consider their jobs like the warriors did when fighting for our…
Everyone grows up with different values and way of living their lives. I grew up being taught that the finer things in our lives are what make us whole. They are not tangible possessions, yet sensations and feelings. I believe that to embody a life worth living we must be active in our faith and give thanks for the life we are given and the beautiful world we live in. I believe that to lead a good life, is to enjoy every second you have with the people you love the most. I believe that we as humans need our God, our family and an open heart to have lasting happiness.…
There are a few things that I value in my life. I value my family, friends and my education. If I didn’t have my family in my life then there would be no one to care for me and help me grow up. If I didn’t have an education then how are you supposed to be successful in life? I always try my best in school because I am lucky to have a great education and it wouldn’t be right to take it for granted. These are my personal values in life.…
At this point in my life, i would like to say that i value my happiness most in life. In my mind, I mean happiness can mean a lot of different things, and the definition may vary from one person to another. As for me, I mean this happiness means different things for me, such as, i hope my parents have good health, i hope my friends happy everyday and so many things around me. I honestly wish that were the case. Over the past year, i have had a significant amount of time to think about why i feel the way i do about the components of my life, i always ask myself what do i want through my life. In doing so i believe that my family is my most valuable entity. Because my own happiness is from i accepting the "advice" and " encouragement" they give me, as for me, they must certainly be of more value to me than my own happiness. So i want to say my value is happiness which is depends on my family.…
Choosing the right career path and being successful at times can be difficult because you don't know what to expect beside what people say. To me success means achieving an important goal you opposed to yourself that will make a change in your life. We all want to be successful in life at one point, but dedicating yourself to achieving your set goal can be hard for some of us. I have chosen to pursue my career in nursing. Becoming a Nurse is a very challenging career field, but it has always been my dream. I have always felt compassionate toward caring for people in need, saving peoples' life, bringing cheer and joy to patient while they are sick, and most importantly comforting patient in need etc. To become a nurse requires dedication towards…
Life! I still do not have the exact concept of what life is exactly and what one values the most in his/her life. But what I do know is that our life is comprised of several ups and downs. Those ups are valued as good times when life continues easily with less complications and the downs are bad times when life becomes harder and more complicated. No matter how wealthy we are or what position we hold, we ought to face both bad and good times one after another. I think happiness better describes a good time. But happiness can not be measured, it is a feeling that gives us the most pleasure. On the other hand, bad times come when one's expectation does not come true.…
