Many will argue whether or not abortion it right or wrong, moral or immoral, ethical or not, but one thing that everyone can agree on is that abortion is a very complex issue with very little common ground that keeps many people divided. The topic of abortion is a subject that many different groups have vested a great deal of time and effort to have their views known in society. The two biggest groups are the pro-choice and pro-life followers, which have been struggling to prove who is right and who is wrong for many years. I believe that abortion is a complex issue and that pro-choice and pro-life both have some reasonable arguments to support their views. When approaching the topic of abortion one must be willing to look at the topic with a open mind because everyone will naturally favor one side over the other because of human nature but everyone must realize that both sides of the debate have great reasons on why they are right. "Abortion debate is not about 'facts, ' but about how to weigh, measure, and assess facts" (Luker, 1984. p. 5). One must make a decision for themselves based on the facts presented. I "as a practicing Catholic" do believe that abortion is morally and ethically wrong but as a American I do respect the laws of the government yet not everyone will agree with my views on the topic. This is why I believe that abortion is a controversial issue affecting our society, it may be legal but it is ethically and morally wrong and based on that I believe that the act of aborting a potential life should be illegal.…

There are many different opinions on abortion in Christianity as some denominations are stricter than others. For the Roman Catholics, they believe strongly against it and believe life begins when the ovum is fertilised and gains the full status of a human being therefore in this denomination abortion is considered as murder and ‘thou shall not murder’is in the 10 commandments. Moreover, the Roman Catholics believe abortion is never right and that the family will be able to bring up the child in any environment. The Church remains adamant on their position on abortion. The Didache, written to Pope John Paul II in Evangelium Vitae, states "The second commandment of the teaching: You shall not murder. You shall not commit adultery. You shall not seduce boys. You shall not commit fornication. You shall not steal. You shall not practice magic. You shall not use potions. You shall not procure [an] abortion, nor destroy a newborn child" (Didache 2:1–2). They see abortion as grave evil and murder, and does not stand for peoples’ ‘sugar-coating’ of the…

Members of the major world religions oppose abortion. For example Roman Catholics, who strongly oppose the use of abortion, and think it is a moral evil. They liken abortions to killing an innocent and go by the 6th of the Ten Commandments “thou shalt not kill”. Although in the past the Pope has said that having an abortion before you feel the foetus move is only killing a potential human, but killing a baby afterwards is a sin. Other Christian denominations also oppose abortion, as suggested by the bible “If men who are fighting hit a pregnant woman and she gives birth prematurely but there is no serious injury, the offender must be fined whatever the woman’s husband demands and the court allows. But if there is serious injury, you are to take life for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot" (Ex. 21:22–24). This could be compared with abortion, showing an opposed view.…
