Looking For Alaska
By: Kismat The major problem that Pudge had to deal with in the story was Alaska's death. I think you responded to the conflicts in the story smartly and strongly. You investigated Alaska's death by investigating the scene of the crime and finding clues that would lead to the truth of her death.
I would've done some things differently if I was you. I would've not let Alaska go in such a bad state in the first place and I would've investigated the scene of the crash the first time I was there. Also if you would've admitted your love to Alaska she would've admitted it as well. If you would've done these things you wouldn't have had to struggle.

But overall I think you did a good job of responding

While the mysteries kept my attention, my favorite part of this novel was the characters. Todd is a delightful young boy who, while not overly troublesome, gets in his fair share of scrapes. His sisters Libby and Lilly Jean do not start off with much of a role, but they become more important as the novel continues. I found myself laughing with the family, crying with the family, and even getting upset for the family. To me, one of the gifts in writing is to be able to make your audience feel what the characters themselves feel. Ms. Ulmer makes this novel enjoyable by making her characters…

I have always been a big fan of Otto Kilcher, he is off the show Alaska The Last Frontier. Otto is a very funny guy and will try anything. Otto is my favorite person on T.V because he is very interesting. I met Otto at a store in Alaska, he asked me if I could read the label on a jar to see when it expires. After that he asked me if I wanted to see his homestead. So I decided to go to his homestead and we went in his old Dodge truck. After about a two hours we were on his homestead and you could see the ocean and there was lots of land.…

I’ve realized what I did was wrong and don’t want my daughter growing up around a situation like this. Although Pearl was a handful she real came around and also turned over a new attitude and tuned out to be a good kid. The only aspect that bothers me a bit is that the story seems a bit jumbled; events that spread years apart are put together in one page, and then a few paragraphs later, the story flies back to third grade memories.I find myself desperately trying to reorient myself, but sometimes I simply cannot and have to reread the whole page.…

In the story, Philip Malloy is to blame because he did not apologize to Miss Narwin because he was too prideful and set on getting out of her class. Philip was sent to the office and the vice principal said that if Philip apologized then he would not have to suspend him but Philip was too prideful. If Philip would have apologized and talked about an agreement, he would not have been suspended. The other reason Philip is to blame is because he lied about what happened and he even lied to a reporter. Philip came home and lied to his parents and a reporter so then everyone thought that he was a hero but his friends knew the truth and did not like him for it. Philip should have told the truth because even though he was thought to be a hero, his friends knew he was not and he lost a lot.…

    | * Jem and Dill(of the future) are reminiscing about the “accident.” They considered a couple options but thought about Dill and the Radleys. This quote is giving you some back ground about the incident. * This is an interesting piece of text because it gives you some history on a very important character. I like it because it puts some mystery into the story at the first chapter. What is so significant about the accident? How were the Radleys involved? It gives you some introduction into the plot of the story. It says “Mr. Radley would see to it that Arthur gave no further trouble.” That text is interesting because it makes you think of the type of man Mr. Radley is and what Arthur did. * I haven’t been to court before, but I can relate in a way to Arthur and his parents. There’s always times when a teacher wants me to turn in an assignment badly, they may contact my parents, knowing they will take control of the situation. Than my parents get mad and make sure I get the assignment done.I * I like the use of foreshadowing used in the text. When it talks about the history of the Radleys, it gives you a question about why it is significant to the story. But if you read you will see they are an…

Adventures in the Unknown Interior of America is a tale of epic proportions worthy of The Odyssey. The only difference being that this tale is true. Written by Álvar Núñez Cabeza de Vaca, Adventures in the Unknown Interior of America details the events of Cabeza de Vaca’s eight-year trip from Spain to the New World. It becomes quite clear though his journey that Cabeza de Vaca changes into a completely different man than he was when he set out from Spain in the name of the king, and God.…

Though I get the main purpose of this essay, I don’t really think it has created an effect on me. Part of it is because I cannot relate to the character, another is that I know the narrator too well that I know what is going to happen. Everyone knows what is going to happen. Her personality is so set in stone that the room for interpretation is limited. We all know she is super anxious, worrisome, and over-protective from the way she talks to the audience, the way she thought of another woman over the screen, the way she rolls the stroller on the street. In addition, everything is so crystal clear and evident that there is no much need to go back and flip through the story once again to understand the underlining purpose. The ambiguity element is missing in this essay, thus makes this work less appealing and less effective on…

Although the style that the novel was weird I can see why Kathryn Barker chose to write the story in this way. It makes a lot of sense to do so once you get what the story is about. But most of all, it makes the story so unique and original. It shakes things up a little bit and moves away from the more traditional stories. I finally understood that her sister was suffering and haunted by her dreams this quote explains this “What was your last feeling before you pulled the trigger? Were you pleased or horrified? Did you feel like a monster? Was pain the last thing you felt in life? And if so, how long had it been going for?” This particular example showed me that in the end she wasn’t as evil as everyone thought. This realization really helped me to understand and enjoy the novel…
