A REPORT ON THE INDUSTRIAL VISIT ON SATURDAY, 29th JANUARY, 2011.
Experience at AUROBINDO Pharma:
AUROBINDO Pharma manufacturing unit number 9 is located near Sangareddy town which is the head quarters of Medak district. It is comparatively nearer to Hyderabad than Medak. Our journey started @school of management studies, University of Hyderabad at around 10 in the morning and reached the pharma unit around 11:30am. The stench of the chemicals welcomed us as soon as we entered into the manufacturing unit. We were a group of 9 energetic and enthusiastic students who opted for entrepreneurship as an elective. We received a warm welcome by the HR staff of the unit with whom we had a round table session later. These gentlemen were well informed about their firm's divisions and operations. Mr.Pradeep, a young HR professional at AUROBINDO started the session by explaining about the firms operating units ,their locations and mode of operations at different units. By the interactive session we came to know that bulk drug manufacturing is the core competence of AUROBINDO and after establishing itself in bulk drug category it also entered into formulation. Unlike Dr.Reddy's lab and Ranbaxy Aurobindo doesn’t market its products but exports their drug to Australia and Europe in bulk quantity. GLAXO and PFIZER are its major customers. As it is already mentioned AUROBINDO is into both bulk drug manufacturing and formulation as well. AUROBINDO have international operations that spread across over 100 countries, the following are the manufacturing units that are spread across India.
AUROBINDO has a total of 12 units out of which five units (unit 5, unit 8, unit 9, unit10, unit 11)are bulk drug units and the remaining seven units are formulation units. Unit 7 is in SEZ at Zedcherla in Mahabubnaga r
