Ineffective Communication Incident
This incident occurs between the jail physician and the nursing staff with direct communication related to patients seen over the weekend by the nursing staff. Each Monday morning the nurse gives a report on inmate patients that were seen by the nurse over the weekend. The nurse gives a detailed report to the physician on each patient including patient complaints, any testing or treatment given. Not every patient or situation is the same. Therefore, the nursing to physician reports differ significantly and tend to leave out the important detail, in which patients are not seen by the physician on Monday since the physician feels the patient can wait to be seen.
