The goal of those participating in Biblical Inerrancy is to defend the scriptures within the Holy Bible. The Chicago Statement on Biblical Inerrancy was developed, in 1978AD, by 300 evangelical scholars in which their Article X states,
"We affirm that inspiration, strictly speaking, applies only to the autographic text of Scripture, which in the providence of God can be ascertained from available manuscripts with great accuracy. We further affirm that copies and translations of Scripture are the Word of God to the extent that they faithfully represent the original. We deny that any essential element of the Christian faith is affected by the absence of the autographs. We further deny that this absence renders the assertion of Biblical inerrancy invalid or irrelevant."

The Christians who are more mainline have the opinion that even though the Holy Bible expresses the will of God there are parts that need to be reconsidered because of the changing of our culture and civlization. Those Christians who are more liberal and progressive have the opinion that the Holy Bible more than likely was written by those who wanted to promote their own specific religious beliefs and values. Also, it is their opinion that the Holy Bible does contain factual errors and many consider God's will to be out of date such as religious genocide, Creation verses evolution, slavery, women's equality, discrimination of sexual preferences, tolerance of religious minorities, torturing of prisoners, death penalty and
