To the modern day reader, The Bible greatly exemplifies an oppressive patriarchal social structure. Women are often raped and otherwise objectified with no consequence. Typically in the Bible, when a woman is a victim of misfortune due to her husband or father 's lack of virtue, God has little pity for her, as she is portrayed as something owned by one or the other. However, the story of Tamar and Judah in Genesis 38 deviates from this typicality, and often times has a feminist interpretation. The passage details the perversion of this system in the privileged males own interest, yet ultimately reinforces it, showing that God is the ultimate Patriarch.…

It tells us what the norms are for our society and shines a light of informalities in those around us. It tells us what’s exotic and what is from the homefront (Serfaty, Ahmed 51). The media has become a way of life for those in the higher education world and it does not look like it is going to change anytime soon. The constant intake of TV, social media, and other means of communication are starting to mold our experiences, lives, and outlooks on life. However many studies have suggested that this view is not accurate with the actual outcome in our lives. It is more likely that the Media is a mirror of our thoughts than persuades us. What we see on TV, the internet, and through our phones does not push us to act one way or another but merely wants to open up the stage for our viewing pleasure, sell items, and force advertising down our throats for however long the commercial is…

    3. I have to disagree with the assertions. Nowadays, teenagers hold higher expectations on shows and movies, they want more excitements. Media makers know that in order to earn a profit, they have to fulfill viewers’ satisfaction. However, there should be a balance between making money and concerning the well-being of the consumers. The media has a significant influence on our society. Once I heard people said, “We live in a world where our views and beliefs change by the mass amount of people.” I believe people not only are influenced to buy things from advertising but they are influenced with sex and other things characters in TV shows are doing. So media should be more aware of what they broadcast, and what impact they…

Media has evolved constantly in the last century. There is a new source or outlet of media being invented. Our nation has moved from newspapers and radio broadcasts to internet and cell phones to receive the news of the day. Radio and newspapers are losing popularity as quick as it gained popularity in the beginning. People can now be updated with news stories and global news on the go. There is no longer the need to flip through a paper or wait through commercials, the news is as easy as a click away. There are some disadvantages to this new form of media delivery, however. Traditional media outlets like newspapers, radios, and television are widely available to everyone, where as internet access has a smaller audience due to expense rates/plans. Although, the media is changing daily news is either broadcasted or by word of mouth in America. I believe that there have been many television shows and movies that have displayed the culture of times in them. People have been influenced by these movies and television shows because some individuals can really relate to the lifestyles or actions of the people in these movies or shows. Especially with videos out there for learning things, I think that can really help with teaching people rather than just trying to get them to read materials to learn. It gives a different view of the materials and what is supposed to be learned. Visual learning become global and many people are taking advantage of it while its here. The internet provides visual entertainment to all that have access to it. The media is all around us and what surrounds us will have an effect on any and everyone in the world. For example:…

Nike used the enthusiasm and excitement swirling around the World Cup to appeal to the market in various different ways. The purpose of this is to show the audience that Nike's brand is capable of putting you in the place of your favorite soccer star and making you feel like one of the greats. This ad does a splendid job of targeting a wide range of people. On the surface it may look like the company is only targeting soccer players, but it could appeal to just about any athlete, or anyone who looks up to an athlete. Nike targets…
