The leadership can be defined as “The process by which an individual exerts influence other people and inspires, motivates, and directs their activities to help achieve group or organization goals” (George, 2006: 148). In any organization there are several types of leaders. Leaders can be classified as either formal leaders or informal leaders. The formal leaders are appointed by the organization to manage and lead others. They have their authority and their official status. On other hand, informal leaders are not appointed by the organization and do not have their official position or authority, but they have a large capacity to influence others. The informal leadership can be supportive for the formal leaders by using its influence to persuade, motivate and encourage employees to work together (Harris, Elaine, 2013). The importance of having informal leader in the Organization is to speak at the meetings on behalf of others, expresses opinions in a manner not inconsistent with the actual leader (Kumar, 2013). The role of the informal leader in motivating members to work with all their energies and skills to do the best job, builds coalition in the organization, and resolve disputes that occur during work (Petty, 2011). If the team can’t get straight answers from the leader, comes the role of informal leader who is giving them straight answers. Typically the informal leader is intelligent, highly energy and likes to be in a position of power (Suthers, 2011). The informal leader has a hidden ability which makes him able to serve the organization by bringing people together, increase their contribution, and creates relationships and communications with them (Smart, 2010). The ability of influence with informal leader is based on his ability to evoke the respect, confidence and others trust (Bacal, 2012). The informal leader has the opportunity to influence others, he has an opinion and voice that the organization members want to listen to him.
