As a child Babe Ruth would always be practicing baseball. Whenever he could, Babe Ruth would go outside everyday when he could to practice and get better at baseball. When he felt like he needed to get better or because someone told him he couldn't do it he always wanted to prove them wrong so he worked to change what they thought (Hampton). One of his many things he wanted to do in his life was to cheer people up in the hospitals during and after World War II. As World War II arrived, he teamed up with the Red Cross and made many trips to military hospitals to visit the injured or sick soldiers.
