The loss of a loved one is extremely devastating for anybody. It is even more painful when it is caused by someone's malicious actions. The Sandy Hook Elementary school shooting has definitely added fuel to the controversial gun debate. Many school districts in Texas have allowed teachers to be able to carry a gun on campus. Although they will be able to have a gun in their possession when a tragedy like the Sandy Hook shooting occurs, will they really act the way many claim they will and take down the shooter? Is the Second Amendment more important than the lives of our teachers and students? I believe that school districts are capable of protecting their schools in a safer way rather than allowing teachers to carry guns.…

Although overall school violence is declining in America, mass shootings in suburban and rural areas are becoming more common ("School" par 1). On April 20, 1999 Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold decided to bring firearms and explosives to Columbine High School to go on a shooting rampage. These two boys, before killing themselves, killed 12 students, one teacher, and wounded 24 others. The cause of this Massacre was violence at the school place, Harris and Klebold were bullied as students and no action was taken when they started talking about killing people or physically hurting people. At the beginning of the school year teachers should give students talks about violence and school shootings. Teachers should tell students that violence is not a joke and it needs to be taken as a serious offence, whether there is going to be a fight at…

According to Elliot, “For the 2010-2011 school year, public schools report 31 school-associated violent deaths." '' Eleven of these reported deaths were homicides of children ages 5–18 on school grounds.''(Elliot 530). There are many ways that the shooter can sneak their firearm to school when it had a heavy presence of students. He or she can put their handgun in their pocket or carry a shotgun or assault rifle in a large coat. When the shooter walks into the school hallway, he or she will pull their weapon out of their hiding place and start to open fire on unexpected students and teachers. By this point, the shooter had a kill or seriously wounded many students and teachers. Therefore, the school system must find the solution to…

The NRA play a key part in the debate over gun control, and parents play a vital role in instilling future generations with respect for handguns and being involved in their lives. Though there is room to consider a grey area guns continue to be the instruments used to sow sorrow resulting…

Every year that passes there is yet another tragic story of how a beloved child has fallen victim to a school shooting. These horror stories many times have no explanation as to why the school shooting has occurred, leaving us in shellshock. Since the columbine shooting on April 20th, 1999 when thirteen people lost their lives, some due to religious belief, there have been thirty-one school shootings. This is a staggering number of shootings that have resulted in a death toll of 162 victims – not including the Oklahoma City bombing. Thompson tell us that the “school system is trying to prevent school shootings but what they are doing is simply not enough. School shootings have become more deadly and the effort of the schools seems to not have any effect.” (Thompson par. 7) In fact, most people have no idea exactly what the school system is doing to try and stop these school shootings. If the people don’t know what is being done, than there is a good chance that the school system is doing very little to nothing at all.…

What has to happen for us to realize we should use the right of our second amendment? Over the past few years we have been faced with many tragic events; these include bombings, attacks, and shootings. I think one of the problems that continue to grow rapidly is school shootings. In 2015 there have been more than 45 school shootings. This has left schools with a tragic event they will always be haunted with. In order to protect the school, teachers should have the right to carry a pistol on campus to make it a safer place for students, faculty, and staff. No matter how prepared you are it can still happen, and being armed could bring down risk of school shootings or protect more people during one.…
